All those 18 year olds that are not taking precautions, gathering in parks and near bars at night, should read this story. Not only do the risk carrying the virus back to their parents and grandparents they also risk serious damage to their own health. Not all young people escape the virus with little or no symptoms.

Milan, the coronavirus had burned his lungs: eighteen year old saved

We have had several young fatalities without pre existing health issues but the young will always be head strong just as we were I suspect, tis the nature of the beast to feel immortal.
We are mostly old farts on here and realise we are fast approaching the sunset so act accordingly as far as risk taking is concerned although I suspect a few have their eyes closed to it grin2.

Yesterday on a walk in Dartmouth there was a 40 footer alongside with around 20 people onboard getting pissed up and very shouty in the cockpit and deck area, there's no helping some people.
Ages ranging from fossils to teenagers..

I agree. The way that people are and have been “stretching” the lockdown restrictions has been getting worse. I think that more of these videos should be shown to get the message across. The emphasis has been on death rates, spread using statistics. The stark effects of Covid 19 both immediate and long term must be shown. We hear about people having mild effects but there are so many with major complications. Age and fitness are no barrier to the severity. From asymptomatic to fatal. You may get the virus but there is no guarantee how badly it affects you even if you have no known medical issues to begin with.
Earlier in the week a firefighter was describing his case. Pretty fit to start with, serious hospitalisation treatment, slow recovery and likely to be off work for weeks to come. His lungs were badly affected but slowly recovering.
I walk the dog daily. Over the last week it is clear that more people are stretching lockdown advice. Last night a group of 8 teens cycled past, music blaring, clearly out for a fun day. More and more groups of people are appearing.
We are now at the start of exiting lockdown. A dangerous time. People are bored, desperate to meet up, seeing examples of lockdown rule breaking and taking the attitude of “ they are getting away with it so I can too”.

"We are mostly old farts on here"

Speak for yourself Richard, or sub-collectively if you wish ; I consider myself a fresh fart, but if you're troubled by old ones try upping the fibre diet 🤣.
You're right though, I am relishing my daily 300 mile round trips in my "old" V8 car; almost getting there and back on a tankfull!
And with petrol prices what they are, having this much fun hasn't been this cheap in years. Almost sad to be finishing this contract, but the next starting in Wokingham soon. I pass many righteous Teslas etc in my 18 year old hand built , sustainably sourced Ash frame Morgan, that hasn't troubled the population or environment as much as Lithium, http://www.lithiummine.com/lithium-mining-and-environmental-impact ,and having only 2k per annum on the clock over 17 years, hardly any carbon footprint to speak of. As for the planet being destroyed, Global warming and Climate change destroyed the dinosaurs last time, not the planet; the sooner activists accept this and own up to just being dermot scared for their own species, the sooner they may get mass attention. Gaia will survive, long after homo sapiens has destroyed itself.
As for Covid, yes of course society should do everything it can to prevent spread, sustain ability to treat, and shield those most at risk; perhaps the govt should issue high vis tabards to those wishing to be socially distant/identified as at risk, so society can protect them, then the rest can get on with life, fuel the govt coffers, keep the financial institutions, gilts, bonds, banks and pension funds going, so those at risk/protected still have something to live on/get health care when needed, and plug the hole so our kids and gran kids don't have to pay for it all. Anyway, just saying, nuff said. soapbox oldgit wine redcard
Oh and another thing...there is joy to be had in every moment of your day, just accept it, tomorrow's sun will always rise love
And another, my "young" neighbours are having a party! grin2 quiet

No troubles in the fart department Treesurveyor anything but thanks for the warning grin2
I filled up today and was somewhat amazed that I got 24 mpg for the first time ever out of my Plus 8, must try harder next time laugh2 there is still heaps of enjoyment to be had without the need for a yellow vest, I've seen the trouble they cause in France and they appear to be a magnet for the coppers so that's social distancing out the window at a stroke..
Great to see you using yours for your work trips I hope the weather stays this way we can all get some serious "Dominic Cummings" trips in without the guilt trips now that Doris has ok'ed all of them..

Any more shootings involving the partying neighbours ?

Glad to hear your firing on all cylinders Rich. I am normally fastidiously frugal when it comes to mpg, and try to keep at 3k RPM, to manage 30 to the gallon, but I keep failing, so settle for just below 25! Just driving in joy 😂.
Waiting for the shooter to snitch the party goers, have to see if my post 4a.m sleep in is disturbed by sounds of The Bill breaking the doors in.!
Enjoy the bottlebank run, may you make it daily! We've just had our holiday at Perrin Sands cancelled 😞
🙌 Phil

Yes I've had a good run out over Dartmoor the other day and Buckfastleigh today Phil, well if DC can do it we all can now and they were lovely just need a few more now the doors down.

Blimey I've never had 30 out of either of my Plus 8's you must have small feet 21 is my normal tank to tank, well done.

Let's hope for a peaceful night and no busting in you don't want that do you..

Sorry to hear the Cornish holiday is cancelled that's a bummer, it's a nice spot there my son and his girlfriend live in a tiny village not far from Newquay, Watergate Bay and of course Fistral are where they are normally surfing or swimming weather dependent. We had some great holidays down there and stayed at Perranporth Haven with the 3 youngsters always plenty to keep them amused.

Maybe you can get a late booking in if Doris allows, ping me if you are interested later in the season as they both work in the leisure industry at different venues at the sharp end.

Still waiting for the Welsh Assembly to translate Boris’s go ahead into Welsh before we can “do a Cummings”.
Some good signs for exit though.
sospan jnr is getting ready to reopen his pizza business in Cardiff market. Late June looks like the date the council will reopen the market. He is starting takeaways in another cafe where he has a part time pizza place too. The mobile vans are a long way off though. Parties, weddings, festivals are still no nearer. He has done some videos for facebook on making pizzas in a hot frying pan. Tried one the other day.....MMMMM.
The grandchildren are coming to visit Monday. The 5 mile rule applies but no problem there. They are desperate to see Monty, the dog, for real instead of on face time!
Today I will be bottling some beer I have brewed. Fingers crossed as haven’t brewed for a few years. I will enjoy it sitting out in the garden.
