Perhaps, but also possible: Paroxysmal atrial tachycardia with block, or congenitally acquired QT interval prolongation, especially if she had been relatively asymptomatic before.

And let us not forget the current therapeutic miracle, hydroxyquinoline, as espoused by the commander in chief (small case, in this instance). Many would not mind a Torsades de Pointe as a national godsend.
For me, I'll stick to my Gin and Tonics, expecting the best antiarrythmic properties from the quinine, as discovered by the Brits in India.

Any vacancies in your IM program?

Tom

They had two PGY-2 openings, but as we are all "socially distancing" I am not sure if they were filled. Heard recently the nearby FM program in Bluefield WV is closing. Poor residents were only given one month notice, and so are desperately trying to find programs that will take them.

That is sad. Finding a PCP in these times would be tough to say the least.

The way funding for residency is set up, these residents get "orphan funding" which follows them to their new program (until the graduate). But here is the difficulty, we do not have room at our hospital to pick up some orphans because we really do not have rotations for extra people. Also, some of their residents already had done a traditional intern year BEFORE starting FM, which means they have used up some of the time based funding they had.

All in all, it becomes very complicated as the funding comes through Medicare and based upon rules that are at least 30 years old.
