Even"n all: gosh but yes I remember Dixon of Dock Green.
Since owning my Roadster. I have had the eml light come on from time to time. Always the same code, slow response on oxygen sensor. I replaced them at 8000 mile but after another five or so the eml would need cancelling from time to time so I decided to remove the sensors and leave them in a jar of petrol overnight. You would not believe the dirt and crud which lay in the bottom of the jar. It seems that a regular clean might wewll solve the problem. Time will tell.

Interesting. My car only does when hot & parked up for a while in cold weather and then on the passenger side.
It is though sensitive to cheaper fuel. I wonder if the E10 in France is adding to your issue?

Meabh have you already tested the O2 sensor after cleaning? Is it still working at all? I had to replace my O2 sensor (before cat) last week after 80.000 km. The message was P2297, „signal out of range during deceleration“, firstly once in a week and then after each delete of errors soon again. And on the real-time graph you could see that the voltage jumps were wider and slower than with a new sensor. With the new O2 sensor I need noticable less fuel and the throttle response is better again.
It is such a gradual process to the worse that one first gets used to it. If your purification works I will try it after a year or so as well.

Not many people know that Jack Warner was a rally/race driver beforevthecwarvandvbefore he became an actor. He was my father,s co driver (in Riley's) several times in the Monte, the six days Alpine Race and other events in the 1930's.

Thanks for the replies.Heinz, so far so good. I'll clean them again when I service it.john, I can find E5 easily enough and always use 98 octane. However I did make a mistake a couple of weeks back, adding five gals of 95 which brought up the mIl light soon afterwards. Coincidence?

The one on the Cat, from memory of a few years ago I think there is only one on the Sport, current owners will confirm.

On the S1 Roadster it is on the cat & there is only one each side.

SFG, on my 2010 Roadster there are two per exhaust. The first is to be found towards the lower front of each cat and the second is to be found to the rear but on top. This one is slightly recessed whereas the front one is easy to remove.
