I am on their mailing list and read://http_www.moss-europe.co.uk/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.moss-europe.co.uk%2Fmoss-blog-e10-petrol%3F_bta_tid%3D37346208745476387028244644460501554183923151860159967970775994249471781034913446324353304452553697709574 very informative document turned up this morning, if you click on the link for engine compatability I'm rather relieved to read that my 1999 Plus 8 engine is good for that fuel although I shall continue to put Super Plus in to get the extra ergs out..

The article also provides post 2021 E10 additives to help the classic owner circumvent the issues.

Interesting read but it looked more like an advert to me as it did not mention any other products that do a similar job. And there are a few.
Cheers
John

I agree John and it did dawn on me when I posted it but my less cynical side said let it go as it might help someone stuck in the dilemma of possibly not being able to keep their pride and joy running.
The additive was new to me but I've never needed one so far.

Thanks for the list guys , this is very timely as E10 appears to be taking over here too, and very little said about it , with our much larger old car percentage (of the national fleet) than the UK this has the potential for expensive damage. In France I chased non E10 at fill up time as was told by a "plus 8 expert mechanic" at Mog 18 that if not it would mean certain apocalypse under my louvred bonnet , and I would have to buy an additive only available from him to be able to drive in France. My usual Shell that I use here is E 5 but interested to see that the list says we should be ok with late Land Rover V 8 on E10 -- Anyone using it though?

Good question Murray and although it says the Rover engine is ok the thought that occurred to me is that the pipework (fueline wise) provided by Morgan will be the cheapest available at the time so probably is not E10 safe, I shall be sticking to Super Plus unleaded until it becomes necessary to put some additives in or swap out the pipework long term.

Interesting that you have an older fleet out there, I guess importing is cost prohibitive or you have a far more sensible buying public than we have smile

Exactly what I felt - ie the engine may be ok but from the tank forward it may cause issues in the lines seals pump etc

The thing with this E10 lark is that it is turning out to be repeat of the great un-leaded fiasco. The real truth is very hard to find and those that are wanting to make money from it have no intention of telling the truth. But this is worse because it's a lot more dangerous if you have a car fire than it is just burning a valve out.
Fuel pipes and any gaskets on the fuel system are an issue along with plastics used in some 1960/70's carburettors. Another minor snag is that what works for years on E5 may not work so long on E10.
Then you've got the fact that E10 does less MPG so how much of a benifit to the enviroment is it anyway?
This E10 thing is one of the reasons I converted my Elan to EFI.
Cheers
John
Edit PS, sorry for the rant.
