I've got to admit I've never oiled it.

However when I fit it I do use the rubber type rather than the PVC type and I stick it to the body frame first with a bit of brushable contact adhesive e.g
Thixofix or similar

You are not alone quite a few on here swear by it, I just felt a bit skeptical about it and asked the question of someone I respected with many years in the industry and in particular servicing and rebuilding Morgan's when I was there getting a job done on the car.

Someone asked why we oil or Brush in ACF50

I think there are two reasons

Firstly it helps prevent water getting in under the paint and oxidising the ali causing the paint to bubble up

These areas where the wings meet the body are prone to flex and rubbing and have a paint edge, hence the beading so it can be vulnerable to water exposure

Secondly it helps prevent abrasive wear from the flexing

This is a close up picture of what happens when you forget to oil your beading

Has anyone fitted new piping by just loosening the screws to the wings/running boards without fully removing them?

If so it could be possible to fit a new beading or even update to beading in a contrasting colour fairly easily.

Unfortunately I doubt it, some previous Mogs I've worked on have had the piping stapled in various places to the woodwork with industrial staples & they're a right pain to get out, even when access is easy
