I’m currently in the process of selling a motorbike.
The DVLA online systems, I’ve used, seem to be working well, but there are currently delays in getting the paperwork.
Like many other businesses, Covid19 has impacted them.
Worth noting if you have to deal with them.

I’m waiting for a number plate retention certificate, so I can actually advertise the plate I have for sale,

I've been waiting six weeks for approval to transfer my personal plate from my last Morgan to my current one. For some reason I had to send both V5's and Form 371 to Swansea. A previous thread hinted that it could take up to 3 months. Considering that car sales during the lockdown were almost zero it makes me wonder why. The online system is very good but apparently my latest change required the dreaded "paperwork' .

There are comments in Pistonheads about the DVLA and delays. Anything that can be done online is fine and automated document systems linked to the basic stuff seem to be ok.

Aye, it's all stuck in the works Budster.
I have been waiting over four months for a tax refund after transferring a home car within the family.
But I don't have enough priority points to email or webchat. Ugh.

I’ve just received the V5C back with the re-issued original registration number.
So, I am now waiting for the Cherished Plate Retention Certificate.
The cherished plate V2NUT started life on a Guzzi V11, then went to two Ducatis, before ending up on a Bonneville!

By coincidence Bud on "Is my car taxed" my personal plate is today showing up against my new car. Now I just need the V5's, authorisation to fit the plates and a refund of the VED on the old car.

Anything done online with DVLA gets done very quickly, Anything done by post can take weeks, even months at the mo.

Or longer in the case of my daughter. over 1 year as the DVLA kept losing stuff. Try to do it all online if you can would be my advice.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I waited nearly a year to get my Class C1 back on my licence. Eye tests which can only be done at Specsavers and medical reports from my GP etc.

Best Regards

Some things are quick and others slow. V5's seem to be taking forever. I recently had to renew my driving licence being of a certain age. I needed to retain my restricted D1 C1 categories but my doctor wouldn't do the medical. HGV drivers got an extension of 1 year without the medical but it didn't apply to me. Calls to DVLA confirmed that there was no provision for me despite being a critical worker. Our DVLA liaison officer tried for me no luck however a week later DVLA changed their mind and now people in my position will be granted a 7 month extension. In the mean time I found an organisation on-line called D4 Doctors arranged an appointment for the end of the week, sent off all my paperwork to the DVLA and received my licence back a week later (yesterday).
