Always tricky but I’m considering selling it if the car I view soon is up to scratch.

BUT what’s mine worth?

2000 Plus 8 4.6.

Red with black hide red piped

Knock on 16” alloys

12000 miles

Super sonic suspension. (Can’t recall the name, super something)

Carlos fandango management upgrade.

Double dear exhaust manifolds and system. Lovely noise

De-bumpered
with under belly front and over riders rear.

Cibie Spots

Steering damper.

Watts link

Plus more.

Mint condition obviously

All upgrade work carried out by BHM within the last 6 months.

What do you reckon?

I would say a dealer would sell it for £36,000.

Dealer would pay £31,000

Private sale £34,000

I could be wrong, but I'm sure others on here will know

Thanks Craig.

Tricky one. All I know is for that money they’re all older with a mountain more mileage.

Not sure how the market is either.

One thing for sure is that whenever I buy it’s a rarity and I have to cough up and conversely when I sell no fecker wants them.

Beamish had a 2000 +8 on offer in August Miscellany for £39990. I think Craig’s estimates are more realistic. Other things need factoring in...e.g. With such low mileage, is it still running on original rubber? etc.

Sorry Viper, you made me giggle

On a more serious note, a couple of pals have sold 8's through Melvyn Rutter on brokerage, he always seems to have European customers waiting for good cars, they were both happy with the deals

I think most dealers now prefer to do a commission sale today.

They have to invest in a lot of new stock from MMC which swallows up their cash, so they prefer not to take any risks on used cars, and if they do it will be "silly money" only.

On the value estimates, I suspect Craig isn't too far out. You would think that +8 values would be a lot higher , it was an iconic car , the 1997 to 2002 cars are the pick of the range , and that there would be buyers queuing up for good ones. However they always seem to be undervalued. I accept the fuel consumption is higher than the 4 or 6 cylinder cars, and perhaps insurance and VED, but nevertheless values in the £30k- £40k are the best achievable.

Cheers Chaps

New rubber btw.

As per usual the £1000’s spent recently on upgrades doesn’t add a dime.

Also thought that a 4.6 was quite a rare thing which also might fetch a premium.

Aren't BHM best placed to guide you especially as they know the car? I suppose the overriding factor in any sale /value is the need to sell. If you hold out for a value, it could be 6 months or more before selling, whereas if you need a quick sale you may need to drop expectations / hopes?
