Re. Graham`s birthday "do". For those not in the know Old Rosie is a cloudy, still, powerful cider made by Weston`s. Old Rosie is a traction engine which is still in working order and is proudly displayed in the factory yard. However, I did not toast Graham & other birthday boys with it as I had found in Aldi some cans of Rosie`s Pig. This is a cider I had with a lunch whilst at the Weston`s Cider Mill a couple of years ago. 4% so fairly light but with a splash of rhubarb in it - sounds awful (i don`t generally go with fruit ciders) but very tasty and refreshing on a hot day .Of course in respect to Graham I had Melton Mowbray pork pie with it.
Rosie`s Pig is a small van which was used to deliver in the early days - a pig to start and a pig to drive
. She, too, is proudly displayed in the Weston`s yard - they are great ones for tradition - reminded me in many ways of a classic car company not far away from Much Marcle!
Went for a five mile run this morning then a blast in the Mog for a handful of miles then rinsed and washed as she was covered in what appeared to be half of the Sahara. Now safely back under her cover sheltered from the sun and storms..
