What would have been the original fit steering wheel for this model/year? Mine is currently fitted with an Astrali leather rimmed wheel. I do fancy a wood rimmed one and wondered if Astrali was an original fit. Or did Morgan only use MotoLita?

My '72 had the Astrali leather rim with the rubber central boss. Have changed to a wood rim. Looks better in my opinion and more vegan friendly smile

It's a Mountney - same hole spaces as the Astrali (different number/spacing to Moto-Lita)

Original would have been an Astrali but these are prone to cracking.

You can get a new wood rimmed Astrali for sub 100 quid which would probably fit on your centre boss

Incidentally Astrali bought out the Les Leston name in the early 70's

I think the new Astralis have the same hole pattern as the Moto-Lita wheels - 9 hole. The originals had only 6 holes, as do the new Mountneys.

They are also around the £100 mark. They do a flat and dish wheel in light wood. If you want dark (like mine) then it's dish only.

TBM is that a flat wheel? Seen an offer for Astralis on ebay with 20% off (so comes out at £75) but will probably need a new boss. I think I have clearance for a flat wheel (current one is dished slightly).
Oh, just seen yours is dished.

Yep, dished. Works better with my mini (austiin, not small) indicator stalk.......

Mmmm will have to look at that. Currently got the steering wheel off as have dropped the dash to redo the wrinkle finish.

You can see it in the picture above - much shorter and you can keep it straight rather than the 'double bend' of the Morgan one. I burnt out the original by fitting halogens, but was always smacking the horn with my knee when I was getting in. It's now just the right length with a 13" or 14" wheel (as I have now) so you can easily operate without moving hands from wheel.

You have to swap the connector plugs over, but it's fairly easy.

Just had a look to check clearances. I have a Mountney leather wheel at the moment. I note that the boss skirt has a diameter of 80mm. I have another Mountney boss which is 88mm at the skirt. This fouls the cowl. The steering column doesnt sit central in the cowl. Is yours the same?
