Fantastic to see the speed differential between the leaders and back markers. In the wet that is giving the drivers some really risky moments , and the race is only 3 hours old. When the rain comes down in the Eiffel mountains , it can stay around for a long time, so could be a long while before they can deploy slicks , or even inters.

I have raced there in the wet , and it is a very low grip circuit. The Morgan was sliding all over the place.

Remember that there are three starting fields and even more classes. The differences of the speed between the classes are sometimes very considerable.
It is supposed to rain heavily all night long. Because of Corona no spectators and no camping is allowed on the 21 km track (without GP part), the riders have no lighting landmarks like bars or tents at all during the night. In addition, the night is 12 hours long, almost 5 hours more than at the end of May, when the 24h race is normally. At the moment still in the dry the lap times are faster in the dark than in the afternoon because there is more oxygen in the air. The newer LED lighting makes a huge difference to the past when you see how illuminated the road is watching onboard. That might compensate a bit the 12 h of darkness.
Racing the Morgan on the Nordschleife in the rain is an adventure, Andy. I respect that.

Thanks , it was very challenging and perhaps not something I want to repeat. The main issue I had was trying to remember which bend was coming up next and therefore where to position myself on the track (and I was racing in daylight!). At night it must be doubly exciting even with LED lights.

A pity that the racing was stopped between 10.00 pm and early morning, but perhaps just as well given the conditions. Must admit I found the videos and th commentary superb, much more exciting than the Russian GP.
