If anyone wants the "ultimate" Trad Plus 8 then this new Ford V8 is available as a "Crate" engine.

https://www.motor1.com/news/431393/ford-godzilla-v8-crate-engine/

Godzilla is 7.3L, pushrod V8, only 430bhp but 475 ft lbs. No supercharger or turbo.

Similar torque to my old 60's CV8 - which was 450 lbft despite being one litre less innocent

I think that a "mere" 430 bhp would not cut it for the handle of the ultimate +8. Bill Fink's later +8+s I believe had LS7s with in excess of 500bhp. What fun they must be.

I did wonder hypothetically if the Mustang's Coyote 5.0 V8 could be shoehorned in. The gearbox casing is the same.

Just 70 lbs more and 435 bhp! smile

BTW although it seems surprising this independent test of Mustang variants suggests Ford's figures may be pessimistic.

I expect it would, and with a nice supercharger it will go up towards 800bhp...
All you need is money and a touch of insanity...

I think my Plus 8 4.6 with tweaks is already too fast for the chassis.

Wheels spend most the time in the air. But I love the noise
