I’m at a loss with how the factory intercom should work?

Do you buy headsets and plug them in or is it only for a helmet please?

All I can offer is that the standard loom has a power connector for such. I vaguely remember splicing into this otherwise redundant connector to provide main power source for air horns I fitted, after uprating fuse.

IIRC it was an option at considerable cost, so unless fitted it wasn't standard on the M3W, there should be a little box under the dash with on/off, volume controls and two jack plug sockets to plug the headsets into

When I ordered mine last year the options list included “Starcom 1 intercom system £583.73“
I asked about it and was told that as it has wired headsets I was much better off buying after-market Bluetooth intercoms as it avoids the wires.
I think it’s a helmet system but I’m not sure.

My wife and I converse easily with helmets and BlueTooth communicators in them, it also answers the phone or makes calls and listens to music on fm radio or from the playlist in the phone.

I’m still none the wiser.

So unit is there and sockets by the transmission tunnel.

Do I buy headsets like rally ones and plug in?

Looks like Starcom headsets for it are only for helmets and are described as “SH-004 Full or SH-006 Flip/open”
There is a page about what might be the same device here
http://www.starcom1.com/motorcycle-bluetooth-communication.html

There is also some details of another variant here. It’s possible this is the same as the one Morgan fit, but both of them describe the headsets the same way.
https://www.earshotcommunications.co.uk/shop/product/starcom-advanced-motorbike-intercom/

What I can’t tell from the specifications is if you can plug in a generic rally headset.

When I bought my 1st M3W, part of the package was a Three Wheeler driving course. They used the Starcomm and it was defiantly plug in headsets which were separate from the helmets.

I don't know about the spec or part numbers - sorry.
