Drove up to Williams today to drop the car off for a service and MOT. A nice drive, little traffic on the roads.
As well as the service an additional task is to fit a new right angle bracket that goes between the front of the bonnet hinge and the bulkhead. The old one had cracked in half. At Williams I discovered that the Morgan do not have this part and have no plans to make them available. Not very good on a car that only went out of production a year or so back. Tom at Williams will. repair it with a bolted on fishplate.
Simon: something else for you to consider! It is simple enough, three aluminium pieces welded together.
Tomorrow I'll go back in the wonderful Saab loan car and drive back the scenic way.
At Williams I found a rather nice white metallic Coupe. Only £124K.... Gosh.....

Kevin. There wasen't that many silver S1s made I used to call at the factory quite regularly between 2002 and 06 I can remember a silver with light ash dash floating about . My first S1 was an ex factory car. I took a waterlogged Gtn out and that was it hooked, it was about 4k more than mine at the time and i didn 't think it was worth the extra it's now worth double. Em Great picture in the last thead Kevin, the closest I have gotten to taking mine out is sitting in it Em - got to admit I don't understand why the values suddenly doubled on the GTNs, seemed to coincide with the classic car boom but for some reason the S1 was left behind..call me cinical but often dealers can be behind driving these values and a few make a tidy profit as a result - not saying that is what happened here though or that they aren't worth the money as they are very special cars. Just an odd scenario! Oddly the last one that came up didn't sell for over a year, so perhaps people don't believe they are worth double the amount when they were only a few k more? Who knows.. The GTN retail price when new was £72,500. A series 1 at the time new was around £55,500. So 30% more expensive than the standard series 1. In the January 2004 edition of EVO they got an exclusive first drive in Morgan's Road-Racer as they called it The tag line was: Inspired by the successful Morgan racecar, the GT is a rawer, faster take on the Aero 8. Listed differences according to the article, the 4.6litre Alpina engine (about 44bhp more than the 4.4 standard engine), stiffer suspension, centre lock OZ wheels (like the early S1's) with Yokohama semi-slick tyres, an extended spoiler that spans the scallop between the front wings and a trimmed version of the racer's carbon fibre hardtop. Inside, the traditional Morgan ash framework has been hidden by a blackened and carbonated interior - a detail described as 'Ebonisation' by Morgan. Interestingly, I dont know who made the black steering wheel for the GTN. It is wood, not leather covered but Moto-Lita say they have never made a black wood wheel (as at 2017 when I showed it to them). Given that it has a different powerplant to any other Aero, it is a proper limited edition compared to the Series 5 GT which was pretty standard apart from the body kit and a partial improvement to the suspension I would expect it to run at a higher price than a standard S1. Of the 2 versions available of the GTN, I prefer the S1 body rather than the S2 body. The narrow cockpit suits the cross-eyed look much better than on the S2. I

Back from Williams with a fully fettled Tarka!! The drive back was in the dark and rain... LED lights and Pete's wipers made it almost enjoyable. How is it that MMC can't supply wipers that work? Presumably they don't believe Morgan owners ever go out in the rain!! Some rather nice looking cars in Williams' showroom... ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2020/11/11/Blue-PlusSix.jpg) But not for me.. I remain loyal to the Plus 8!!

Can't beat a V8. Just looking at the map, I am almost exactly equidistant to either Williams or B&C.

Just to clarify in 2006 the aero with mini headlights and 325hp was 62500 new, a series 1 around 2002 about 38k the gtn at the factory was up for 42k but was a bit tatty, which ever way you cut it they are now up for sale at double the price of average series1s. Em Do you have the list price for S1 at end of 2003? The GTN deliveries were winter 2003 spring 2004. All the articles I have read put the GTN at around £17-18,000 above the standard Aero.

Although I didn't gel with the PlusSix ride & seats, that metallic blue is lovely

Jon,
agree with you on all counts. Our AMGs are what Mercedes calls "Brilliant Blue". Not a patch on the metallic blu MMC used on that Plus Six, no real depth of colour nor brilliance.
