My MIL has money invested with the title company, she is seeking advice on whether to keep or sell? She has lost a significant amount of money already and I read they have recently sold out to Liontrust. Anybody out in TM land have any experience with either company or advice as I have absolutely no idea TIA

You don't say if the fund is their UK or Global equity fund. Our Financial Advisor has recently advised that: - UK funds have let your portfolios down and I would recommend waiting for a recovery in the UK markets before switching out.
I would suggest reducing exposure to the Property Fund.
So, it depends. I believe there is at least one Financial Advisor on here. When looking at my father's investments recently, we found that the cost of proper independent financial advice can mount up.

We are between 4.5% and 8.3% down on our funds as of last week.
You will need professional advice but I would suggest waiting it out before changing things. Selling out now confirms the loss. All I know for sure is that we were advised to reduce our dependence on UK funds.

In general the UK currency and assets are out of favour (FT article recently) whilst Brexit is on going and therefore undervalued. The FT view is that once the new arrangement with EU settles down the UK currency and assets will come back into favour and should rise.......as there is absolutely no guarantees as to the world economy going forward because of covid, all advice should be taken with a pinch of salt.
However we are seeing more venture funds entering the UK probably to asset strip. As far as commercial property assets if the return back to the offices loses momentum and more home working continues commercial property values and resultant rents may weaken. Already recognised and projected by some Australian cities that city centres and office space may have to be converted to housing.......add to the fact that about 40% of current roles are to be replaced by AI and automation within the next decade or so there may be more office space available.
No-one knows for certain eg the UK financial services see the Pacific Rim for the future market growth............recently HK tried to buy the UK Stock Exchange for its mass of financial data, data being seen as a key very marketable commodity going forward.
Oh for a crystal ball and really ensure you understand your risk appetite /tolerance profile.
regards
John

Have you ever met a poor Financial Advisor who drives a crappy car? Yep, my neighbour. Caught out in the crash of 2008, lost her job and a shed load of income. ended up unemployed and finally found a job asa school secretary. She's happy but hols to US, Dubai, S. Africa and apartment in Maderia have mutated into a week in the Lake District. Drives an old mini (BMW type) She's a lovely lady but do I feel sorry for her - no chance.

I bet she's dead chuffed at having her £20K salary frozen to help bail out her previous employers
