Nice to see the Indi following the Gruanidans spilling theorys. "which would their annual salary to £85,291."
Okay now show us the number after allowances and extras. How much does my cynical mind think they will shift it to expense allowance increases......
I know I would not take that job on and manage all the sochul medier threats and abuse for £85k a year.
Just time to burn a little more petrol before dinner.

Don't forget the London flat/house, secretarial and admin staff, massive expense account and dirt cheap food & booze.

No matter what we say about them I wouldn't do it for that money they are welcome to it.
Like Solicitors and Estate Agents they always take a lot of crap for not big money.

Well, my pub (like all bars and restaurants in France) has had it’s enforced closure extended until January 20th at the earliest. Reopening will only happen on that date if daily recorded cases is down to below 5000. I’m quite gloomy about that, as the freeing up of other areas, and the festivities, will no doubt slow the rate at which the situation is improving.
At least this time the government is offering some proper compensation. In the first 10 week lockdown, my staff’s wages were largely paid through a furlough scheme, but not a sausage for me or the business. For November I will get €1k (as a one-off) and the business will get €1.5k (I know, whoopee-doo). From December the business will be compensated to the tune of 20% of turnover - in my case, that means I should get about €20000 for the month, which is much more like it.
I’ve just finished a set of accounts for the first 10 months of 2020, and I’ve lost about €100000 so far this year (or an aeromax, give or take)
Fingers crossed that the vaccines start to bring this all back under control by the middle of the year, so things can start getting back to normal, because otherwise the outlook is extremely grim.
I will just say one thing as regards the relative performance of the French and British Government's approach to this whole business. Macron seems to set out his stall over longer periods than Johnson. Although I'm not happy about my business having to close, I understand and and accept the reasons; I also feel I have greater clarity on what to expect, and the circumstances under which things will change. The UK government seems to lurch one way and then the other every 2 weeks, everything seems rather vague. My friends in the hospitality industry in the UK are tearing their hair out at the uncertainty of just not knowing what to plan for.

Giles agreed & really on Thursday when they announce the new tiers it could make or break most pubs & restaurants.

From that graphic I'd say 80 is the new 70....the increase past 80 is massive. Mind you, I'd like to see the same data for all other deaths: my guess is that it wouldn't be that different.
