So I now have taken delivery of some ex Baby Doll centre lock Minilites which I’m now looking to fit to the car. I’m aware of the potential interference issue between the inner rim and the front suspension etc. and Cain from Wolf Performance is going to check that out, plus Peter from SSL has been really helpful and provided some advise on this issue.
My next dilemma is what tyre to fit! Currently I have 185/70 R15 Avon CR6zz’s fitted to 15 x 6 wire wheels and transferring these to a 7” rim is physically possible, however it is outside the Avon recommendations, which is rim size 4.5 to 6 inches. Does anyone know what are the legal/safety standpoint is in relation to this?
Finally, if I do have to change to new tyres, what would people recommend? The tyres originally specified for the Plus 4 Supersport was I believe 205/65 R15 Avon ZV5’s?

My twopence worth on tyre size is don't do it if it's outside the Avon recommendation. You might only find out the legal situation were you unlucky enough to have a serious accident involving insurance experts. My view on insurers these days is that they stop at nothing to avoid paying out!
Cheers

Good news is that 205/65 R15 tyres give a similar circumference, just 1.2% larger than your 185's. Note ZV7 has replaced ZV5 and factory fit on current cars.

Yes, the diameter is important as with the P4 standard set up I had issues with local sleeping policemen!
My local tyre centre isn't too keen on Avon's, so also looking at alternatives. Michelin Cross Climate, a 4 seasons tyre is suppposed to provide good grip in all conditions and the compound is very sticky... might be worth considering. There was some discussion on these last year.
