I have need of a 500ml aerosol can of cellulose paint for a project on my car. The colour is Sport Red, MMC ref M007.

I know companies offer such by way of samples for larger batches, but I wonder if someone can point me to a company that works with current MMC colours.

Red is THE problem colour when it comes to fade. So although you may find the correct paint code, getting a good match may not be guaranteed.

Craftmaster paints in Cambridgeshire have started to do cellulose.

I've used Autopaints Brighton for cellulose and will colour match in house and will probably supply by paint code. I believe Craftmaster have to send the sample away to get a match.

My local Ketts (Norwich) didn't do cellulose.

Most Paint Distributors will now not hold Cellulose paint in stock, they will hold a clear cellulose binder additive to add to the
Paint as a Converter.
Cellulose
Polyurethane
Acrylic
Will all give a gloss finish from an Aerosol Can, simply inform your supplier that you want an Aerosol Gloss finish that air dries
and you don't have to Lacquer and they should be able to help, all will give the same end result, as for the Matching of the colour
thats a different issue and one you have to prepare to cover more area to blend or arrive at a Gap or Seam to allude the mis-match.

Thanks again Dean. TBH the main issue is finding a mail order source that recognises recent MMC paint codes. Fix a Chip and Chips Away seem to but offer either limited quantities, packaging or paint types.

I remember asking for the eqivalents to MMC's "Sport" range of colours a couple of years ago and not getting a definitive answer. So again does anyone have a commonly recognised code for Sport Red, M007?

Unfortunately they are not paint codes you can convert, they are Morgan references to ICI PPG Paint,
Not recognised by your usual paint Distributor.
