Unsure if this is what you are after my +8 is of mid 80`s vintage and it has an aftermarket SS exhaust, the resonators on which I removed, to give it a bit more...err voice when the loud pedal is pressed a bit more than normal.. smile

Hope I am not muddying the water..

I think the “pig’s nose rubber hanger is common to the various standard/most prevalent after market exhausts. Correct me if wrong.

That set up is still used on the modern Trads. The car bracket is the same. The tailpipe bracket is now usually welded on, and the rubber bracket is used at 90 degrees to that pic above.

DaveW, sospan, my rubber hangar is non standard bought from Halfrauds as a universal type, it is turned to provide the maximum ground clearance for the tailpipe.

I recently bought a couple of spares from Melvyn that seem to be identical to the one in your pic sospan, though seems that the Halfrauds ones give a fraction more ground clearance for the tailpipe..

Thanks for all the replies, the exhaust I want to fit has a lug welded to the end pipe/exhaust, which is elongated slightly and takes a 10mm nut and bolt sandwiched with two rubber washers this is what I was hoping to get an image of..

I tried posting an image but for some reason (file too big) it will not let me, I have never had this problem before, any ideas, (I am rubbish with a computer).

This is the arrangement I have as it is a dual Librands Sport fitted, the lug is welded to the pipe and slides through the fleximount. It sounds as if yours is mounted with the Mini standard bobbins as per midpoint silencer.

The Librands exhaust I have on my Plus 8 did have the welded lugs with a slotted hole. I cut them off and fitted an exhaust clamp with a welded on lug that fits in the same way as shown in the picture by sospan. I had the exhaust clamps lying around, originally came from BHM and fitted to a sports exhaust tailpipe for a 4/4/. I think they are a Librands item.

Found them at Librands - , https://www.librands.co.uk/products-category-76.html

MIKALOR HANGER CLAMP 73-79, and MIKALOR HANGER CLAMP 63-68

For the chassis end

Stainless tail pipe support bracket at rear, (although I got mine during a rummage in the stores at Melvyn Rutters)

I played around with those welded on slotted fixings for ages and couldn't come up with an elegant way to fit the tailpipe

Mike
