James I’m going for a full repaint to a top class standard, so much easier with a car like this with panels off.
Then it’ll go off for a hood and interior tidy up, it had suffered from the dreaded leaks.
These are slave wheels and the other set are being refurbished with fat rubber.
The car was serviced and all boggles sorted at BHM recently.
I shall attempt to clean up what you see there but I’m not after a concourse car which will stop me from using it. I just like stuff to be spot on to start.

Love your pictures Lee, great to see the work you are doing and to see what goes on underneath.

I like the sound of your plan Lee It makes a lot of sense to get the panels painted off the car; looking forward to seeing the finished result. Who is doing the hood/interior (are you going Allon White's or do you have someone local....?). I quite fancy replacing the hood at some point so would be interested in how yours works out.... Are you having the wheels painted/lacquered or are you risking powder coating (as you probably know, there are mixed views on powder coating magnesium wheels....?). I must say though, well done; when you start a job you don't hang around James

Will do guys.
James, I’m yet to speak to Allon Whites but I think I will use them from what Nick says, he knows his early hoods and to retain the glass window.
As for wheels, I’m having them painted. They have to go through a careful strip of old paint, then the critical drying process before painting.
As I mentioned before I think, I had a company recently copy the graphics which they have now made available as either a stencil (so they can be painted on as factory) or as a sticker.
I’m having them done bright silver with a Matt finish. On a dark coloured aero I feel I need to have bright wheels.

Interested to hear your not having them powdercoated, I was torn what to do with hearing about the issues with Mag wheels. Oddly my BMW has painted wheels (as do most OEM I think) and they are tough as old boots, must be because the Germans did it.. Re wheel colour, are you not tempted by a lighter grey similar to your old one? Must admit though Matt silver does sound rather good!

No I think that bronze/grey liked well on my old one but not on the dark blue one. I need to brighten it up.

Thanks James.
It’s down to my painter now but will take pics on regular visits.
In the meantime I’m sorting stainless nuts and bolts and staple guns etc.
