Not that I am aware of. My car was the first, allegedly, that MMC had seen this type of failure and was fixed at the factory. There have been a few others since all pre 2014.

So I am being told by the Morgan garage here in Detroit that I have to pay 4 hrs shop time for the "A brace" to be put on. I am supplying the brace (from another dealer). Does this sound like too many hrs labor time for this job?

2 hrs per side - sounds about correct having talked with other guys and considering what has to be done, but they’ll probably confirm manhours on here.

I would be asking some questions though of the dealer.

1. Have they carried out the mod previously on other cars.
2. Can they not get the man hours reimbursed by the factory.
3. What happens if the mod is not carried out and the car develops cracks - would the mod then be carried out free of charge.
4. The mod is and has been carried out free of charge at the Morgan factory for essential safety.

Mark H are you referring to the A brace a one piece item, or the lower brackets in Rog G's photos? The A brace was supplied & fitted free on my car but the chassis still cracked.

4 hrs sounds a lot. What they would need to do is:
Remove bonnet.
Undo 2 bolts on existing cross brace and remove.
Position new brace, insert 2 bolts removed above.
Position clamping plate at rear of brace insert 2 bolts, some cars need a cutout in the bottom of the cowl for clearance, and then do everything up.
Replace bonnet


The weld in lower wishbone brackets take nearly a full day at the factory.

thanks, guys. I will look to do the A brace myself and then push Morgan to get the bracket for the weld job and maybe negotiate a price on that.
