Hello there.

The spare wheel is a bit corroded but all others are good. Does anyone know a spray pack which is right for 1986 wheels? There is one at the accessories shop (Autobarn) but it is a bit dark - close but not close enough. I could have it painted professionally but it does not seem worth it for one wheel.

Not sure of the situation in Oz , but around here if you take a colour swatch into a local paint supplier they will produce an aerosol of matching colour for you.

I think it works with a spectrophotometer analysing the paint colour , and then producing a list of "ingredients" for the guy to mix. Nice pieces of kit , if a tad expensive.

If you could find a supplier offering this service , then take in one of the existing wheels for them to match?

Apologies if this is just not a workable solution for you in Australia

Thank you Andy.

There is no equipment here to analyse the colour, but I found an almost perfect match at a local automotive store. The colour is called Silver Metallic.

I don't want to have it sprayed and the other wheels have a nice patina. The colour is also right for the other wheels.

It will work well, by chance.

Hi Neil, Hopefully you have a paint you are not happy with and will be happy with the result.

Not sure about NSW but in ACT I think people go here to get their paint computer colour matched http://capitalautopaints.com.au/about.html I am sure NSW would have places with the same equipment.

Well, here is the good news.

Motor Wheel Service International Limited (Slough) had painted two wheels about 20 years ago, from documents passed to me with the car. I contacted them and copied their invoice, and they responded that the colour is Regal Silver, powder coat RAL9006. This is great service, particularly as it was so long ago.

They also said that the XW470 wheels have been replaced by XW5726.

So if anyone is wondering about their wheel colour, there may be a solution.
