Hi folks

Simon kindly gave me permission to post up this new project that I have on the go, I didnt want to just post as I suppose its a bit of a cheeky plug :-)   We have had a couple of watch threads, and we all like engineering and aviation so there are obviously some here that like watches etc so hope this may be of interest to some.

So you may have seen in previous threads I posted a while ago that I own a teeny tiny watch company called 6B watches. These are military style timepieces that I produce in limited numbers. Ive done three models so far since 2013 ( so not the most productive of watch brands  lol )  all three being chronographs.  I decided that for a fourth I would do a simple hand cranked three hander. So here is UPKEEP. I didn't want to make a one for one clone of an already existing watch, there are too many of those already,  so put my own little spin on designs of older issued watches from the likes of IWC and Omega etc.

As an extra cool feature ( at least I think it's cool ) the entire case back will be engraved in Morse code haha. Its up to the customer to suss it out :-)

You play the cards you're dealt with and not having pots of cash to develop, bling up or modify watches and movements  my "thing" is to go a little overboard with presentation. As a Micro brand owner I enjoy this process as it gets my brain working and I love to produce something that is unique and attractive to own rather than a flimsy watch pouch or similar that will get put away.

So on this occasion, UPKEEP is presented in an aluminium CNC machined  'Bouncing bomb'.  Roughly L105 x H70 once the watch is in use the container makes a super cool desktop model in which to store whatever you can stuff in there.  Making this container has pushed up the price ( Crikey CNC is expensive !! )  but I dont care, Its not always about making pots of cash for me.  The enjoyment for me is making something a little different from the others.

Here are some images. Ive only got renders for the moment but the GO button has been pressed so should have further images soon-ish !
One small amendment to the dial is the omission of quotation marks around UPKEEP. And the green on the hands, numbers and indices is a bit over green ! It wont be that green.

Hope you like it ! Thank you for reading and thank you Simon.

Not only did I want to show you this as a new product I'm excited to show, it is a shameless plug ! If any sales come from here I'm more than happy to chuck some shekels into a charity tin of Simon's choice.

Watches are Swiss made at Basel and UPKEEP Bouncing Bomb here in Blighty uk

Great skills and if I ever wore a watch it would be one of yours notworthy, stopped wearing one six years ago when I took early retirement and haven't missed a thing . thumbs.

Richard .... can just picture you stepping out into the firm's car park after your last day and symbolicaly throwing your watch down in the dust like at the start of Easy Rider smile ..... never been a watch wearer (except for specific duties) but love the look of the old military watch I have ... these carry that look on .... so many 'prestige' watches are encrusted with excess stuff, ending up looking gimmicky .... loving the plain, clean and practical design .... wishing you good luck with your venture Bonesie!

Ps ... since retirement it's become a source of satisfaction that I rarely even know which day it is, let alone the time! smile

Keith, you're very close to the truth and I took great delight in burning my Passport too and I'm in no hurry to renew it.
I can miss the odd day or two as well, not as successfully as you though and it's a good feeling, not always through an excess of malt and ale either.

p.s. I can recommend ditching your watch to anyone that needs to refresh their mindfulness skills guru. (Apologies to Bones laugh2).

I'm the exact reverse to Rich in that I am still buying watches. It's a bit of a disease I think as I have no need for any form of watch, I just like the man-machine interface with a mechanical watch. My latest ( for watch fans ) is an Alexander Shorokhoff "Levels".

Here for a good time not a long time!!
