Although a regular cyclist, I'm very much in the tubby-bloke-riding-slowly-to-the-shops-and-pub class, but I do like a nice bit of innovation. This drive system looks very neat, with the option of multiple gears and 99.2% drive efficiency compared to around 97% on a conventional chain and sprocket setup. I'd be interested to what some of you more serious cyclonauts think of it? https://mashable.com/video/ceramicspeed-chainless-bike-can-now-shift-gears-carry-load/

Cleverly thought out. Impressed by the shifting mechanism and incredibly low frictional losses.

That is an amazingly clever bit of engineering, as long as it is robust in the real world.

That's very impressive indeed.
Anything that does away with the need to keep washing , degreasing , and re-lubing chains gets my vote every time .
However when they talk about everything bring electronic rather than manual levers/shifters then they are clearly aiming at the very top spec road bike group sets (Shimano Ultegra or equivalent) so likely to be rather pricy.
That gear selection reminds me of a pre-selector box , or in modern terms a VAG group DSG autobox.

Wow! Very innovative and elegant. Sounds noisy though but maybe the microphone was close to the sprocket at the end.
I like it.

That looks brilliant.
Good launch strategy hinted at BTW - target the riders to whom that few % improvement in efficiency really matters to get market traction then expand out from that beach-head. It will get cheaper - once they achieve scale.
If you are interested in launch strategy I suggest you read: 1) Crossing the Chasm by Geoffrey Moore. And 2) The Innovators Solution by Clayton Christensen and Michael Raynor
