That's precisely how his opponents are playing this. This insidious tabloid mindset is invading our lives, and it's very difficult to prevent it.

In Scots law there's a verdict that can allow for your "element of doubt" - Not Proven. He was found Not Guilty. He's therefore as innocent now as he was throughout the process (because, "innocent until proven guilty").

I dislike his politics and cause just as much as I admired his ability to have Westminster politicians dance to his tune.

If you want an indication of just how deeply this process is corrupting the normal conduct of the law, quite aside for a document published on a government channel, then removed for a redacted version to be republished in its place (while the unredacted version remains on a commercial publication's website), there's still no verdict on Craig Murray's "jigsaw" case, two weeks after the hearing.
It's beginning to feel like there won't be a verdict in Craig's case until these other hearings have taken place. That delay might be caused by the judge wishing to describe some of the political processes going on between current & past SNP leadership, and can't do so until their hearings have taken place.

It's a fine mess, isn't it.

SFO .... and some commentators claim Marmite is edible!! smile

I have some concerns as to the separation of the SG from the Police and Judiciary .... they're all too cosy-cosy for my liking .... the lack of a strong opposition and a limp-wristed press who have yet to develop the journalistic rigour that they need to question what is ,effectively in every day to day power, a fully fledged government doesn't help.

A way to go before it's a 'failed state' though .... but some of the signs aren't healthy going forward.

It feels like a lot of what you say could be true Espirit. Lack of balance, speculation and sensational screaming seem to confuse our knowledge of reality around many things.

Form a sentence that involves the following words, snout, trough, politician, hungry, self interest? That's a little how I see it.

I am going to openly admit to being pro-remain for the Europe thing which also leads to an even stronger desire to keep the UK together. I have always loved the diversity of the UK even including the very odd sounding people of Sunderland.

Just time to burn a little more petrol before dinner.

Let's hope so.

We can but hope, I hold the Union of all our Nations close to my heart and it would be a sad day if the division took place.
She is making quite a good job of shooting herself in the foot right now with the election fast approaching..
We have several Scottish friends and they are not impressed at all with her mishandling of domestic issues such as healthcare and education.

Can't see any Vote of No Confidence passing .... no SNP msp will break ranks this close to the election .... and the Greens who give Nicola her majority only have any relevance due to that one thing ... and they know it ..... unless there's some old Salmond supporters lurking in the ranks who are happy to be hate-figures for the saltire face-painters she'll shrug it off.

She seems arrogant/nonchalant enough at the moment but that's politicians for you, it will be interesting to see this one play out, I think AS will go nuclear if he has anything left in his arsenal.

Their in home meeting still has some mileage to go I think..

Not sure it's arrogance/nonchalance as much as a Joan-of-Arc like conviction that she works for a holy cause and nothing else is of any consequence ..... utterly focussed and, as such, even more immune than other politicians to self-doubt .... the end justifies any means. An attitude applauded by her supporters and worried about by those who don't.

Interesting to watch as we don't have a history of messianic politics in the UK.

I think Blair was the last one with Catholicism as his prop and that wasn't so good for anyone else but himself and the demented wife.

Still a few surprises for the election I reckon.
