I know there are many Landy owners out there in Morgan land, I was wondering if anyone has experience of fitting and using a Roamerdrive overdrive to their Landy? I've been meaning to do something for ages, and the old Fairey and GKN overdrives are no longer available so I've just had to fork out for a Roamerdrive.
Interested to hear of user impressions. Do you really get a significant reduction in fuel consumption, or do you just charge around at higher speeds? And if you fitted it yourself, any tips or tricks to share?

If you do end up travelling faster, you might find that suspension bushes that seemed OK before now seem a bit flabby.
When I sorted the engine in my S3 and the cruising speed went up by 10mph (to a giddy 58mph) the new leaf springs and associated bushes suddenly became rather urgent.
Look forward to a full report.

Sounds like another new name. You wouldn't want the GKN anyway Tim. I ran one on the 90 for a couple of years. It was removed and replaced by the then available Roverdrive (from Canada IIRC) - fully manual, use on any gear (I don't use it in Transfer Low with the torque multiplication however). Fairey weren't available for the later (coil sprung LR). The Roverdrive came via Devon 4x4. Do I notice a change in fuel consumption? Hard to say. The biggest change is things are quite a lot quieter at 60-65 trundle up motorway. Mind you I also have taller (7.50R16) tyres fitted, so my odometer slightly underreads the miles (not as bad as the 4/4 though). After a quick look at their web site I suspect this is the same as mine - just an updated company name. Certainly mine is lubricated from the transfer box. If you want to know how mine is, I'll trundle the 90 down one day (when we're allowed ).

I've ordered mine from Rimmer Bros, should be here in a few days. Can't decide whether to fit it myself or get my local Landy specialist to do it. Quieter 60mph long-distance cruising is what I'm after, but I wouldn't mind a few extra mpg.

We had the owner of Roamerdrive in Canada staying at the air b&b next door a year or so ago. Think he was a little dissapointed to find my LR already had a Fairey overdrive fitted as purchased Second hand ones do occasionally come up for sale on the LRS2C forum or more rarely eBay. FWIW my S2C with hybrid 2.5 diesel is screaming its head off at 45+ mph so absolutely essential to have o/d. I've had up to 33 mpg cruising at 55 mph true, as I have 7.50 tyres which makes the speedo spot on as well as adding a bit to the gearing.
