Hi
I had a luggage rack fitted to my Roadster Sport by one of the main dealers and the top stays interfere with the rubber seal where the hood meets the body, which creates two triangular gaps per stay. Not been out in the rain yet and not expecting the car to be completely watertight but the gaps do look like a recipe for lots of water ingress. Wondered if there was a solution for this - perhaps cutting a slot in the hood seal, but that seems a bit radical. Anyone on here know the solution or do I simply tolerate?
Thanks in anticipation
Chris

I had a luggage rack on my Roadster Sport and on looking at yours I would saythat it has been badly fitted. I don't recall any problem with the seal being pulled to the extent that yours is and I had no problem with water getting in.

Thanks. I assumed that it was done correctly so will look again tomorrow. Might need a bit of adjustment.

I had the same problem with my Plus 4 Sport. A friend then made 2 parts for me with a 3D printer. See here http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/644680/leakage-easy-up-hood-closed#Post644680

Thanks both,
I have had another look at the installation and cannot easily see any way of changing the angle that the top support makes with the body, which would be required to close the gap. I wonder Michael if it would be possible for your friend to print 2 parts for me and at what cost?

Chris, do you have a pic of the whole installation? So we can see how the down fixing is done and which angle the whole rack shows?

Heinz - I've been on gardening detail today so unable to take any photos. Notwithstanding, installation is identical to that shown at the link in Michael P's post so I think it must be a feature of the rack and car. A new post from RobCol in Michael's thread suggests that he has the same problem too.

Just on the way to think a 3D printed part...

Just make a model of wood or something you can handle... than visit your dentist. Most of them have 3D scanners.

After the scan look for someone who can print it.

Perhaps Micheal P's friend could email you the .STL file for the part .... there's bound to be someone local to you will be happy to print a couple off for you.... most schools have printers these days as well.

Or print an approximate 3d part and then make a final version out of wood?
