As a child of the fifties have dim memory of northern lights on the south coast of Wales. Very little background light in those days.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

Thanks for the photo Gordon Spaceweather. GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: NOAA forecasters say that a minor G1-class geomagnetic storm is possible on March 6th when a high-speed stream of solar wind reaches Earth. The gaseous material is flowing from an equatorial hole in the sun's atmosphere.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM WATCH: A solar wind stream is coming, and it could spark a G1-class geomagnetic storm when it arrives on March 5-6. The gaseous material is flowing ~550 km/s from an equatorial hole in the sun's atmosphere. If NOAA forecasts are correct, the timing of the storm could favor nighttime aurora watchers in Canada and Alaska.

SOLAR WIND UPDATE: Earth is exiting a solar wind stream that sparked bright high-latitude auroras during the first week of March. Another stream is on the way. Flowing from a Southern hole in the sun's atmosphere, the gaseous material is expected to reach Earth on March 13th.
NEW SUNSPOT CRACKLING WITH FLARES: A New sunspot emerging over the sun's northeastern limb produced a C1-class solar flare yesterday March 9th.
A pulse of radiation from the flare briefly ionized the top of Earth's atmosphere, causing a low-frequency radio brownout over the Atlantic Ocean. Mariners and ham radio operators might have noticed unusual propagation below 10 MHz around 1235 UTC?
C-flares are relatively minor events. The potential of this sunspot for more intense flares is unknown. We'll find out more as it rotates into better view later!

CO-ROTATING INTERACTION REGION: NOAA forecasters say that a CIR (co-rotating interaction region) could hit Earth's magnetic field on March 13th. CIRs are transition zones between slow- and fast-moving solar wind streams. Solar wind plasma piles up in these regions, producing shock-like structures that sometimes mimick CMEs and spark bright Arctic auroras.

I didn't really spot the gutter until it was mentioned. The phone box, however Good to see one!
