Yesterday we made a trip to the river Elbe- the air temperature was 39 degrees mad2

I notice that the fan did not start although the collant temperature raise to 100 degrees an higher..

I did change the relais last year so my first thought was to change the Bosch relais again..

After some stops i found out that there is a problem with the loom next to the radiator fan.

When I "moved" the loom the fan startet. There is something like a "large AMP connector," a short wire and than a "white" connector to the cable from fan.

I am looking for this 2 connectors but did not find them in the web.

Silly question: Any ideas? laugh2

Hi Bernt. It’s a very unreliable connector in this situation and Morgan doesn’t use it on later cars. I replaced mine here

PS - But here is a similar connector to the original.

I kept a plug and socket in the circuit, similar to the '2 Way 6.3mm Multi-Connector DJ7021-6.3-11 Terminal Block Plug Electrical Socket' referred to in the above link, but I soldered a length of cable to the cables from the fan, this allowed me to raise the position of the connector so it was away from any water that gets thrown up from the road. The original position just resulted in the connection getting drowned with water, resulting corrosion and bad connection. If your fan is controlled from the ECU (slow and fast relays) you can test them using the Forscan software (using a PC with a usb/OBD link)

For connectors have a look here:

https://www.automotive-connectors.com/

Or very good quality and waterproof for a small budget ask „Tante Luise“... ;-)

Or more (and more expensive):

Mine did the same when away from home. The RAC man replaced it with bullet connectors. I suspect most fail as the connector is hanging in the air.

Hi All.

Thank you!

Quick as ever thumbs

Between the t-connector and the cable that is fixed to the fan is a second connector in a plastic housing or so.
I can´t reach this connectors from above because the cable is very short and there is not anough room für my "smal hands".

So I have to try to control this parts from underneath the car.....

Did you mean this one? I assumed that it was some kind of noise suppresion inductor that the cable just loops through.

It is Hall effect device to suppress noise. I took it off my s1 Roadster and it made no difference

That's a good way to gain some length on the wire!

Yes Roger,

You mean something like a ferit core to reduce interference? You are right, it does look like that!

Thank you again for your quick help and **again** for the right foto!!
