You need to PM Javier it's what his wife does for a living out there based in Madrid.

His handle is Marmota on here and he has offered her services previously on here..

In 2019, we toured the Picos and the Pyrenees. Stayed mostly in Paradores. When we started to research the route and hotels, we struggled to find rooms at 6 months notice. If you have a large group, you could have left it too late for a DIY tour. Scenic Car Tours do stuff for MSCC so we contacted them. They do bespoke tours for 5 cars and up. They put together the trip for us based loosely on their standard tour and it worked very well. They made good recommendations and found us good hotels. I suspect we could have saved a bit per couple by persevering and doing it ourselves but we deemed it well worthwhile. Mrs F briefed them to keep distances between hotels down so we could enjoy the drives and it made the holiday.

I can recommend a night or two in Donostia San Sebastian (60 miles East of Bilbao)- the old town is well worth a visit and we enjoyed some lovely meals.

Some people love Andorra. We kept it to one night as a transit point and that was more than sufficient. Make sure to fill your tank whilst there on their cheaper petrol.

Andorra is not part of the standard European roaming agreement. Cost me €50,- to check my e-mails on the iPhone.

I looked at the 2022 Brittany ferries to Spain timetable they have 2 new ships on the route. These new ships are running on CNG and must be slower because many of the crossings will be a 2 night crossing.
Personally I don’t find that option particularly attractive it can be avoided by picking the right ship from Plymouth

2 days to cross seems odd. Shame we hoped to go in 2023

I am booked on Bilbao-Portsmouth next September and the journey is listed as 27 hours against 23 for the current ferry.

I travelled Northern & Central Spain and Portugal in the +8 back in May June 2017. Self organised, why give money to third parties????? Happy to share my route if you PM me. Crossed in from France via Andorra, yes cheap petrol. The paradors of Soria and Zamora. Central Portugal to Porto via N222. Then NW Spain, Picos for a few days and back into France via Bayonne towards Bordeaux and home. I find ferries boring, tedious and would far rather drive. Isn't that why we bought Morgans? It was a nice 4k mile round trip from Cambridge.
We have also driven to Majorca and travelled the Rioja region from Barcelona back in the 80s and 90s.
