As per the title really - are there any decent places for lunch around Winchester, ideally with parking?
I'm thinking normal pub grub rather than gastronautical experience. Last time I went to Winchester it was about 15 years ago and we ate in the Brasserie Blanc which was very nice, but that was in the days when I was on an expense account. Now I'm an impoverished pensioner something a bit less pricey would be appreciated!
TIA

Depends how "around" you want to be. We visit Winchester a couple of times a year, it would be more often but we are consistently disappointed by the restaurants. If you fancy a bit more of a drive out into the countryside, I would recommend you head to Stockbridge (12 miles / 20 mins), it's a pretty little town in the Test valley, and you can park on the high street. Lots of places to eat there, including pubs and tea rooms, or if you can bend your budget try this place https://www.closdumarquis.co.uk/

The Wkyeham Arms is a good posh pub, just south of the Cathedral The Black Rat and Chesil House are posh restaurants, also south of the Cathedral https://www.wykehamarmswinchester.co.uk/https://www.theblackrat.co.uk/ (lunch Sat and Sun only) https://www.chesilrectory.co.uk/(Sadly, not being much less posh now that I've retired I've not eaten in any those for some time....). My first (and only) job interview in the IT industry was conducted in the Wykehamd Arms - those were the days..... Close by parking: https://en.parkopedia.co.uk/parking/carpark/tower_street_multi_storey/so23/winchester. RhimJim and Tanoshi Fusion are Indian/Thai restaurants in the centre of the town which are less expensive and reasonably good. Park in the cark park by the council offices for them. The Kings Head in Hursley does a decent burger, amongst other things. For a good stone backed pizza, (park in the Station Car Park). https://www.pi-pizza.co.uk/Places probably to avoid: Loch Fyne, Porterhouse Steakhouse Basic pub food: The Bishop on the Bridge south of the cathedral. IIf the weather is nice, the top of St Catherine's Hill is a nice place (exposed) place for a picnic.

By the river Itchen near New Alresford is the Bush Inn. You should probably book as it’s popular. Good ales, food and location. Plenty of parking and a nice river stroll adjacent to the pub. 5 miles from Winchester city centre.

Agreed for these three, often used for take aways coming back from SOU on the way home for many years. Tanoshi Fusion https://goo.gl/maps/wJt4E3R4z1KKU7Jm7 (Good Thai Red Curry) The Kings Head in Hursley does a decent burger, amongst other things. For a good stone backed pizza, (park in the Station Car Park). https://www.pi-pizza.co.uk/South of town, nice pub The old forge. https://goo.gl/maps/jmDAV4AfVDTbp3RG9Good simple pizza in the middle of town, Three Joes https://goo.gl/maps/AkzDtWen6rjm7Jdt8Plenty in stockbridge as well.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Looks like it's going to be the White Hart in Stockbridge for us.
