Putting the newly sprayed bonnet sides on today .... have fabricated a new front catch to replace the one that mysteriously evaporated between the strip-down and rebuild ..... between the catches there's a third bracket with a rubber snubber that goes against the inside of the bonnet (presumably to stop it flapping) .... both mine were rotted away.

I was wondering if anyone who has a mid 70's car could measure how much the rubber sticks out from the metal bracket it's fixed to .... I think you can still get them but I have some thick rubber here and will make some replacements (that way I can have a stainless stud rather than the zinc plated originals.)

Cheers

K

Rubber is around 8-10mm thick. From edge of wing to outer edge of rubber is about 50mm in total

Yep, a visit to your local plumbers merchants won't go amiss.

My car is anything but symmetric, one thick washer on one side, three on the other!

Looks like a cut down basic rubber doorstop from ironmongers / hardware type shop
