There's a Factory fix for the refuelling issue, about 90 minutes labour. Mine was sorted. I can't understand why the dealers weren't told of the mods 🤔

I thought it was "Just me" that hadn't quite used my Aero enough to have mastered the "Knack" of what angle and depth to hold the pump in order to get fuel in to the car - clearly not. Any hints/tips gratefully received by me and others by the sound of it.

I'd be concerned about the hold-down belt buckles possibly contacting the front wing. Is their some type of protective padding for them? The metal buckle simply needs to be folded back inwards before being rested on the wing. It's a non-issue. I rarely need to open the bonnet, but this technique of fold back the buckle is simple. [Edit: I misunderstood, you mean the hold downs on the trailer. I think they slot into place on the side rails] What was the solution Taffmog to your refuelling issue? Do you know what the factory fix was? I will update when it comes back, but I understand there is a filler cap with more holes for air to escape which stops the problem. I hope so as it's my only real criticism - I hate filling it as it takes ages and I never really know how much fuel has been delivered.

When the Coupe was first delivered it suffered from some issues that made my brain sag.
Terrible filling speed and blow back. Swingometer grade accuracy of the gauge.
Both did end up getting fixed on one of it's trips back to the factory.
The filling speed was related to the "o'clock" location of the breather holes you could see in the facing. They needed to be at the top and the pipes connected to them needed an untwisted run. Once this was done the filling speed and consistency improved greatly.

Hi Alistair, I've had a look at my fuel filler and the once the lockable cap is removed sprung cover hinges at the 12 o'clock position and folds downwards and back towards the front of the car. The breather hole is at 9 o'clock and is uncovered during the process of depressing the main spun filler cover. Am I missing anything / is there a particular ideal angle for the fuel nozzle to go in at the aids the "Breathing" and prevent the continual auto-stopping of the fuel from the pump?

On mine I put the nozzle in 180 to where you'd naturally place it, and it fills fine. If I remember rightly it's what the handbook recommends. I'm not sure if I'm more surprised to have read the handbook, or that Morgan reckon it's fine for owners to workaround a problem that the manufacturer should fix? Anyhoo, Neilda, it sounds like your problem was much worse than it should've been

I have tried every position of nozzle insertion angle and have tried twisting the internal holes to every position.
I wondered if fitting another fuel filler cap might help - to have it also open whilst filling. But this would be a very costly 'fix'.
Anyhoo, hopefully MMC can fix this issue before my jaunt to the Med in June.

I find this really odd as the last time I filled up it took me almost 1min per litre, trying the nozzle in every possible angle 45 degrees at a time, half in - half out etc and yet on previous occasions no such issues. I wonder if to is particular fuel stations as the one I used most recently I've not used before and therefore potential different petrol pumps have different flow rates and/or different cut-off sensor sensitivity, maybe?

I asked a local garage owner about that when I was having a problem. He said that the pump maintenance people he uses (along with most garages) have a standard setting they aim for which is determined by the pump type in the unit and petrol or diesel going through.

This problem seems peculiar to the Aluminium chassis Plus 8, it's really is frustrating. Mine was sorted at the Factory under warranty and has been fine since but, sorry I don't know the cure. As I said previously I can't understand why the 'fix' hasn't been released to the dealers. It's a case of rerouting or modifying pipes and less than a 2 hour job. Aero owners complain of a similar problem but it's nowhere as bad as the Plus 8. My S1 suffers from it to a lesser extent but holding the nozzle at 12 o'clock seems to solve it.

I have yet to test the car at the petrol pumps - however the factory fix detailed on the invoice contained the following parts:
Machine Shop Supply Fuel Adapter.
Tank Rubber Gasket
Petrol Hose 1/2 Inch Bore
Petrol Cap Side Vent 12mm
One interesting note is that the factory mentioned not 'topping off' when filling. In other words, once the pump has clicked off, don't be tempted to try and trickle more fuel in - apparently this additional fuel makes its way to the charcoal canister thing.
I assume it's fixed it - I will know when I am next at the pump!

Thought that might have returned to you. Saw it being loaded into the trailer yesterday morning. Hope the fix is satisfactory. And yes, the "no trickle fill" applies to just about all modern petrol cars.

First drive out today and first visit to the petrol pump. It's fixed! It fills just like any other car - nozzle right in, squeeze as hard as you like. Fantastic - I'm delighted as it was the only real negative I had about the car. I dreaded filling it. Thank you MMC. Neil, do you know what MMC did as the cure ?

Yes - they listed: Machine Shop Supply Fuel Adapter. Tank Rubber Gasket Petrol Hose 1/2 Inch Bore Petrol Cap Side Vent 12mm I assume bigger vents/bores and an especially made up 'supply fuel adapter' - but I don't know what this is. It was worth having done as filling the car was beyond tedious. It was painfully slow (gingerly pressing the trigger etc) but also not really knowing if the car was actually full. Worth adding that previously I would end up with my feet covered in petrol as it would also suddenly woosh out of the filler cap. This has stopped too.

Many thanks Does yours have this mis filling plate removed now ? I ask because I have a pal with a trad that has problems of fuel burp & can never get a full tank, & I suspect the unleaded only breather plate below could be removed ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/05/07/filler-cap.md.jpg)

I had this problem with my series 1 roadster when new. I found that the plate with all the holes in pictured above rotates very freely. Only when the hinge is at 12 o'clock will the car fill properly. That's my memory of it, I just rotated the plate using a pencil and the problem went away. I should call it the flap, not the plate. I cant easily fully fill the tank. So this is interesting. I have to say that it's a bit of a game changer being able to fuel easily - but also recognise that it's major faff to take it to the factory. I am glad I have had mine done.
