Unless you are dead set on retaining the silver portion would a vehicle trimmer be able to re-trim the whole wheel in new leather? Not sure where you are but www.vampedtrim.com in Surrey specialise in this kind of thing and I'm sure they could do it.

One option is to adopt a Motolita as a replacement (keep the old one for potential sale with the car). https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/Our S2 wheel has a similar "patina" that is annoying and I have always preferred all leather or suede/ette I believe that PeterJ found a very good leather upholstery lady down his way (Salisbury) who would probably be able to do it based on her posts on FB in the past. I believe it is this lady https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063439974639

I’ve just dealt with this company. They are soooo professional and quick. A perfect job and not too expensive. I’ve just had a wheel recovered in alcantara with a red top stripe for £180 inclusive http://royalsteeringwheels.com/contact-us/

Alistair do you know anyone that has fitted a Moto-Lita to an Aero given the air-bag and horn buttons etc?

It was some time back at the first Waddesden Event and there was a Coupe in off white next to mine which had one fitted. It looked really nice. I thin it was the four spoke/slot metal with wood rim.
On the site you can select a car and Aero 8 is listed. It slims down your options to the models that fit the car. When I look at the Moto site it shows a selection of boss options including a pretty metal Morgan engraved horn hub. I do not believe this supports an air bag. It does all mount up a bit when you have the boss, wheel and horn hub but it looks and feels lovely
You also have the choice of a variety of materials sizes and colours. They do seem to make a nice job of them. Biggest issue for me was working out which one I wanted (wood, alcantara or leather, slots or solid etc)
I did have someone mention that you are able to tweak something so that it does not cause the error light to come on when removed.
I am told they are very happy to help on a call, they are about 10-20 miles from my home and I have been looking for an excuse to go there for some time. I have S2 serial number 326 so I am guessing they will be similar. Same Aston 1/3 wood/silver rim I expect.
Ohh one other thing. I seem to remember someone once said that the entrance to the site was on a slope and you needed to beware of grounding the sump! Also be prepared to be seduced by the jackets, they have an effect on you......

Alistair do you know anyone that has fitted a Moto-Lita to an Aero given the air-bag and horn buttons etc? They can be fitted, you just lose the air bag. So it all depends on what you prefer looks/safety wise.

Horn yes. https://www.moto-lita.co.uk/accessories/morgan-engraved-billet-horn-button/?filters=398Air Bag, not that I am aware of. If this is removed you do need to sort out the warning light this may cause as it is an MoT fail under the current rules. Also do an H&S risk assessment of the risk of impact on your gob if you do smash things up. I keep meaning to do it but have never got around to it.

Think I'll ask Brands Hatch Morgan about the wiring and the MOT before considering a change - thanks for the thoughts on those points.

Seen a few without the airbag with no issues, even a Series 5 I believe the wiring can be sorted or bulb removed.
Safety wise the majority of Morgans and early Aero's don't have them and we tend not to think otherwise, of course it is safer with one - but then I wouldn't classify a Morgan as overly safe anyway, so like most things it's a choice you have to make.
