I have a Series 3 Aero and had an issue with my speedo recently where the needle started to vibrate and slowly work its way right around the clock to the maximum speed regardless of my actual speed and then it slowly went back to zero and rested on the stop and at the same time I lost the little LCD screen with the mileometer reading on it. I kept driving for about another hour and no change. Got home, washed the car and started it to put it in the garage and all was perfect again and not had an issue since - back to the old saying of MORGAN - Most Owners Regard Gremlins As Normal. If there is an electrical issue switching the car off and leaving completely off (no ignition) for a good 10-15 minutes will ensure that there is no residual charge in any of the systems and hopefully the next time it is turned on the classic reboot will reset everything - fingers crossed.
Cheers, Paul

Roady, Yes it is possible to recalibrate the speedo, I seem to remember this being discussed in previous posts on here, somewhere! Paul, odometer readings disappearing are almost always caused by damp air, a few miles with your sidelights on usually rectifies it with the heat from the bulb inside the instrument, otherwise use a hairdryer under the dash on gentle heat, this works too.

Amazing coincidence that my digital display for mileage disappeared yesterday after leaving it out in the rain.
20 miles later and with the advice from Jamie at BHM to point the heater vent up it came back on.
I’ve recalibrated my Speedo too not was over reading by 15%

I will try this on the S2, I always felt it was overreading vastly. Ambling along the M4 in the traffic it used to read 90, I will reference the sat nav thingy. Excellent share thank you.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Having had similar experience to PJC with my S1's speedo I resorted to a hairdrier to get the LCD screen working again (typical Morgan in the winter experience). Afterwards found my speedo was overreading. I have today after reading posts from 10 years ago recalibrated my speedo which at 60 was reading 48 (now shows 58 when my Google Maps on my phone shows 60). Originally posted by Philippo "Basically I measured the car speedo indicated speed against a couple of satnav devices. Then I entered into the speedo calibration mode, done by holding done odometer reset button then turning ignition on. Basically I then increased the speedo pulse number by close to the percentage of the over read. After a bit of trial and error I arrived at a speedo that reads roughly 1% fast, as opposed to 10% before. The final number of pulses can be + or - a bit since you're looking at a high number." I have set mine at 46000 pulses which seems to work fine now so great result and demonstrates some really good advice on here.

In order to avoid breaking speed limits, do we not require the speedo to read higher than actual speed? In the case mentioned above, when google maps show 60, you really need the speedo to be 60+. Having said that, you also go on to say you have set it up with speedo reading fast, so I am a bit confused!

Legally a speedo should read between 0% and 10% over, not under (so you’re never going faster than you think you are).
