For some time the central pin on my 1990 +8 driver's door lock has been loose meaning the door doesn't shut tight. I finally got round to removing it from the 'pillar' to see if I could tighten it. I assumed it had a nut on the back, forum users may be interested in the design. I'm guessing the door locks and catches are originally Land Rover Defender? Fortunately I have speakers fitted so I was able to remove the speaker and gain access behind the frame to remove the nuts on the 2 retaining bolts. I also removed the cup screws down the front edge of the trim panel and could spring the panel open to gain access. It turned out the pin is fixed to the plate with a couple of tack welds on the back and these had fractured. I ground off the broken welds and cadmium plating locally and my mate applied 3 new welds. I didn't take a picture of the broken welds but here is the repair: https://tm-img.com/image/Fnz6Uhttps://tm-img.com/image/FnLPs[/
