A rather worrying announcement on the MSCC website about a problem with Plus Four and Plus Six cars advising that owners stop driving them until they are checked and rectified. See link. CX issue.

Not a hoax and has been confirmed to me via the factory and MSCC Chair, all of FolkMog CX owners notified, hopefully owners get their cars fixed asap and do not miss out on holidays and events.

Dealers are contacting buyers. This should cover all cars but any sold on would be more difficult to trace. DVLA can usually be used as they would have new keeper details. Probably only a very small number of such owners. With upcoming big events and summer trips it is not good news for owners. I wonder if the dealers dropped by MMC might be tempted back to help remedial work. It would certainly help speed up the process. Recalls are not unknown for any manufacturer. Usually due to parts supplier problems. I remember when in the steel industry we had to recall a batch of steel for Ford Escort drive shafts. Routine checks discovered mild steel instead of the correct grade. Luckily the stocks at Ford hadn’t been used so no cars built with it. We discovered the problem and alerted Ford. All suspect stock returned. We tested it all and removed any wrong grade parts. It did result in a visit from Ford QA and increased checks for a while.

I have phoned them several times and got the "We are very busy" message and then disconnection. Can I ask when you did this? Fairly recently? Cheers.

I understand that there are UK CX customers stuck on holiday in countries other than their home one. No one seems to have any idea what they should do.
Me, I'd drive home, but many wouldn't.

Driving home is an option but do realize that insurance is likely invalidated.

I'm not so sure. If one were to contact the insurer and say "Help, I've been instructed not to drive the car and I need to get home" then they would pay for recovery, but if you were on holiday and not in contact with your dealer or MMC how would you know of the recall? To invalidate the policy, the insurance company would have to somehow prove that you knew of the recall and were aware that you had been instructed (not just advised) not to drive the vehicle, and that you had been instructed on how to arrange for return of the vehicle in a safe manner. Otherwise there would an entirely legitimate response of "I knew I had to return the car to my dealer and I was doing just that". If they were a dodgy cheapo insurer they might try to wiggle out of first-party costs, but they'd still honour third-party claims in the event of any accident.

What have the dealers said when they've been contacted? I think some local recovery into secure storage (receipted..) Hire car organised (receipted) Holiday continues Dealer gets car home at their expense Owner claims for costs. If insurances become involved, they pass issues on to claims administrators, who in turn add profit margins. Owner gets home, maybe even a hire car to the sea side. But as that's out of MMC's control, they will argues costs & owner becomes embroiled, bitter and joins TM to vent anger.. The best idea is to admit you're screwed, leave to dealer instructions. And open a cold beer.

The bottom line is that people who spend CX money will seek compensation.
Especially when stuck overseas or miles from a dealer.
If the Plus Six had been built with a manual box and spare wheel back in 2019, I may have ignored my own advice, and jumped straight in. I'm so pleased it wasn't, and I didn't!

Always good advice, just done that after an hour's tootle/blast through the New Forest. Beer is mainly to celebrate the miracle of the fuel gauge, which suddenly started working again. A case of Major Tom to Earth I suspect. Re the various issues on the CX's: (a) were the worst to happen while you thought you "might as well just drive home", and there was a major prang, if the insurance was invalid surely that it a disqualification issue ? and (b) to help me understand the international dimension, how many of the CX's are living in say Germany, France, USA, Australia...etc, where distances from the customer to the dealer might be a flight away, i.e. an awfully expensive trailer ride.

We thought long and hard too just recently about moving to a new Plus Four and were very tempted, but decided not to take the plunge. So glad our heads ruled our hearts particularly as we would have been down near the South coast when the news came through and we would have had the hassle of getting the car back home (as did one of our party on the same trip).

I think the CX has only been available in the UK and Euro zone so far? There is a reasonable dealer network around Europe so not too far I would imagine. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/06/15/MMC-DEALER.md.jpg)

Bob, Applied for change of address 3rd week of December on line, my partners licence came back in 4 days. After 6 weeks I phoned got straight through, chap said ah there was a problem with your application and I've sorted it. Got my licence back 3 days later. Renewed my partners licence this Monday (over 70) it came back this morning. Regards,
