For close to a month Tarka the Plus 8 has been sitting in the garage as Williams Automobiles and MMC try to work out why the brake lights don't work when everything else does... Today, Sunday was a glorious day, so we took Tarka and drove out into the New Forest for a run down to Fritham Pond for a walk.... This is some of the countryside this morning from our walk: simply idyllic... ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/06/26/New-Forest-26-June-22.jpg) We then drove on to a pub, the Cuckoo at Hamptworth which has reopened after a long covid shutdown and with new owners. https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...oo_Inn-Hamptworth_Wiltshire_England.htmlSitting outside together, with a beer and a plate of nachos and dips, reminded us exactly what the Morgan is all about...enjoying the countryside. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2022/06/26/Pre-Lunch.jpg) Yes, driving without brake lights may be unwise, but if you don't need to brake, who knows and if there is no one behind, who cares? I've rigged up an alternative brake light switch, which works well enough....

Glad your Jury rig worked for you Peter and you had a good run out at last, got to be the best move in light of the CX issues facing MMC presently. My guess is October at least before they see the end of the tunnel with the logistics involved with the cars being grounded..

glad you sorted this Peter - even if only a temporary repair I must admit,I nearly posted a while back to suggest an 'additional circuit' to get the lights working; it seems overkill to have a complex Canbus system operating the rear lights... James

I've rigged up an alternative brake light switch, which works well enough.... I had the guy behind me jump out of his car at a junction and come to me just after we’d descended a steep hill into Wantage - ‘your brake lights aren’t working mate!”. I replied they are are and dabbed the brake pedal to show him, with the engine braking of a V8 you don’t always need brakes…

Soon after we bought our first Morgan 4/4 in 2003, my parents stayed with us for a weekend. The Sunday was planned for a lunch at the Bull i’Thorn with DonMog and TorMog. We set off in convoy. It wasn’t until we were nearly at the pub that I realised that I had not used the brakes since we had left Ashbourne. Dad had a Skoda Fabia at the time and didn’t hang about. We didn’t lose them but I suspect he had to work hard to keep up. Mum was a bit quiet over lunch.
