Hi all,

Can someone confirm the original aplication for the air filter in my 2012 Plus 4?

To be clear I'm not looking for a so called performance air filter, I'm perfectly happy with fitting a new standard paper element panel type but it would just be useful to know the OEM aplication so I can source one easily and at a reasonable cost.

Details on the cabin air filter would be much appreciated too.

Thanks in advance, Dave.

Bosch version of air filter is S3047. £11.85 from Amazon which I found to be cheaper than local factor.
Cabin filter? do you mean that bit of foam on top of the heater box under the bonnet? if so, any old bit of foam will do, or give it a wash!

Excellent, thanks.

And yes, I looked at that bit of foam and assumed it was a pre-filter and there might be something more OEM under it confused2

Clearly I'm new to Morgan ownership laugh2

I must say that an open K&N can make sense, so I mean such a cylinder or mushroom. But the inserts in the normal standard airboxes....I have made the experience that the paper filters are simply better than the K&N alternative. I found on the Roadster 3.0 and on my current 4/4 that the standard paper filter makes better torque out of the basement. You also protect your MAF sensor.

Also my findings with my S1 Roadster.

Jury is still out with GDI!

It's a Mondeo air box. I have a K&N cone filter fitted to mine by Cain @ Wolf Performance.

Personally, I'd want to see conclusive evidence of power gains before moving on from the standard paper element panel filter, over the years all my experience has been a performance air filter will add little or nothing other than an increase in induction noise.

Saying that I did run a K&N filter on my TVR, but this was more for ease of maintenance. Having replaced the Lucas 14CUX on my Chimaera with an aftermarket standalone engine management system meant replacing the sensitive hotwire MAF with a MAP, so the sensor oiling issue was eliminated and the K&N was easy to clean and re-oil at service time so over the years it saved me a fortune in standard and crumbling foam filters.

Now I know my Plus 4 runs a £12.00 Mondeo air filter I'll be sticking with that, Monty is looking like he'll be cheap as chips to run cloud9
