Seat belt reel problem #752672

Like some others, I also have problems with my seat belts. I have already improved the speed somewhat with TUNAP 104.

However, there seems to be this plastic guide attached to the reel (see photo).
This guide has come off on both sides and sometimes completely blocks the seat belt.

I tried to reattach this guide (behind the seats) through the small slot. Unfortunately, my fingers are too thick or the slot is too small.

From the rear from the spare tire opening I have not tried it yet.

My questions:

- Does anyone have a photo of the seat belt with the guide?
- Any tip on how to reattach these guides.

Thanks in advance!

Bernd

I don’t have a photo, but had a similar problem with a broken seatbelt guide.
The plastic guide, just by the inertia reel broke, jamming the belt.
After advice from a well respected UK Morgan Dealer, we carefully removed the broken part of the guide and smoothed any jagged edges, of the remaining plastic.
The belt functions perfectly without it in place and the belt no longer jams.
This is on a 2003 Zetec 4/4.

My passenger seat belt was frayed. On inspection that guide was totally missing on both sides.
I replaced them but had some difficulty in that mmc had not left enough room for the guide to fit properly(wood baton/strengthener). Had to shave the new ones down a bit on the lower edge. The passenger belt was fraying against the inboard side against raw wood.

IcePack

do you mean the plastic part shown on my foto with "guide"?

It seems that this part is not broken but was formerly was pushed over something round material.

With my fingers I can feel the reel of the safety belt if I stick my fingers through the smal gap behind the seat.

I am looking for pictures of the complete reel to better understand where the guide used to be attached.
Currently this guide is just hanging loosely over the belt....

Sorry for my english, I often need to use DeepL to translate .. frown

Am out at the moment but I think I have a spare so will take a picture & post. The guide is rectangular plastic with the sides smooth so the belt doesn’t get frayed.

May be a look a MORGAN partbook will help.

There is a great one up to 2005 at BHM. With a look at seat belt harness there isn‘t a part like the pictured one.

Thanks for the photo, but the **loose** plastic part through which my belt runs looks different. It is obviously not broken either.

René
My Morgan is a 2006 model. All the seatbelt parts in the PDF file look different from mine. The parts catalogue is supposed to be for pre 2005 cars.
Maybe that is the reason?

confused

The pictures of the escutcheon is not broken. The break allows the seat belt to be put in place, prior to clipping it in place. You can see the bits of plastic on the underside that clip onto the metal part of the seat belt assembly. You picture seems to show a different way of protecting the belt, using a U shaped rubber type extrusion to clip over the same metal part.

You can see the metal letter box rectangular aperture that the escutcheon fits into. You can also just see the bit where the wood gets in the way. (Upper bit)
