I quite fancied a Brooklands Roadster but found at 6’4” I couldn’t fit in one so, when the roomier Plus Four was launched I felt quite optimistic. I built a car on the configuration platform and this week I tried one out at MMC. Sad to say the folded hood frame put a large dent in my arthritic right shoulder and would’ve been seriously uncomfortable on longish drives. Looks like I’m sticking with the M3W which bizarrely is a better fit if I can keep it running.

While at MMC, I also took a look at the new 3 wheeler, I really don’t understand how any car designer can think that standing on the seat to get in the vehicle is in any way acceptable? innocent

Just about acceptable if your mount is a Spitfire:
"Wearing your parachute get up onto the port side wing, press catch and slide back hood, open and drop down cockpit door and climb into the cockpit. Adjust seat height and pedal settings to suit."

At 6'4" you have no problem in getting your leg over.

Without having to stand on the seat.

The cockpit size figures for the CX vehicles are an interesting juggle , they might suit those with long legs better -however there is significantly less luggage room left behind the sets than my old long door trad, which for touring we use in preference to the rack.

You'll have no problem getting in and out of the Super3 without treading on the seat. It's shorter folk who may struggle.

Very much your prerogative not to buy any car that’s not right for you.

Two quick thoughts though.

First, you dismiss the 3 and four, what about the six, it’s a fair bit wider in the shoulder.

Second, I’m 6’6” and very broad in the shoulder too, and I hear you about the pressure from the folded hood in the plus four. I’d noticed that on the two I borrowed from London. I did however find a couple seating positions that worked for me and additionally found it less a problem on a long Lakes trip than I’d anticipated. All that said, when I collected my new Plus Four from Malvern yesterday and drove the 220 miles back to the Dales, I did note that the hood mechanism by the shoulder appeared and felt far less intrusive than in the ever so slightly two older model plus fours I’d driven. I’m not sure how or why this would be the case, but I really didn’t notice it at all in nearly 5 hours of top down driving.

Ditto Spencer - as you know my car yet to arrive - but I’m 6’7 and 54” chest so will be testing those comfort boundaries too. wink
