Goodish news about the utilities cap but where do they get their figures from? Quote:
Helen Morrissey, senior pensions and retirement analyst at the investment platform Hargreaves Lansdown, said gas and electricity bills will eat up a big chunk of pensioners’ incomes. “The average income for a pensioner couple is around £5,111 a week so even at this new level some pensioners could see fuel bills taking up almost 10% of their income.

She was probably referring the the state pension for ministers.

I must have got it wrong somewhere, I blame my career's advisor, I don't recollect him mentioning any career with such a generous pension scheme. Don't forget the £265k will most likely be after income tax, so gross pension could be closed to £450k pa.
Whilst it is immediate good news with a cap, it seems they are merely spreading the peak cost of the next couple of years over the next 15 years, so whilst immediately lower bills we will be pay more than we would have for the other 13 years or so of the deal to allow them to claw the peak costs back. Hopefully its enough to stop these continuous almost self fulfilling press coverage of the impending recession.........we need confidence in our ability to weather this storm and keep spending our way out of it, than continuously looking down a barrel of doom and gloom.

I thought my teacher`s pension was good - but I must be in a different league. Is this Jacob Reese-Mogg`s weekly pension I wonder?

I thought my teacher`s pension was good - but I must be in a different league. Is this Jacob Reese-Mogg`s weekly pension I wonder? I've somewhat fallen out with my gardener's dad. I said my dad was a head gym teacher and he said - "Ah! Not a real teacher, then". My dad went to Jordanhill like the rest of the teachers.

Decimal point in the wrong place. The stats office say " The average pensioner family received £556 a week in total income before deductions (‘gross income’)"
