How can I tell if my 2014 Plus 4 wiring is Canbus. Want to change my sidelight bulbs in headlight fitting for LEDs.
Will T10 501 LEDs advertised as Canbus still work if the wiring is not Canbus.
Also am I right in assuming the replacement bulb should be glass, because a previous attempt with non glass bulbs was not successful, my theory being the heat when on dipped/full beam damaged the LED.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards
David

David, your Trad Plus 4 is not CANbus, any LED bulbs will work in that location as your car is 'traditionally' wired

Just flip the bulbs over, 501's are wedge style

Good theory Dave. Locating any LED bulb (regardless of the material ) close to a 55W incandescence bulb might not be ideal. I suspect the potential life of the semiconductor LED and any other components will be reduced as and when you use your headlights.

David

Im using LEDS on all my cars including sidelights within the headlight with the 'hot' halogen bulb with no problems. LEDS used are from Classic car LEDS

There is a CANBUS system on later/last Classics David for both engine and body but lamp monitoring is not implemented, so any LED replacement to filament bulb should work fine.

Having said that it's important to use no hyperflash/CANBUS friendly LED indicator bulb replacements otherwise the flash rate will be compromised, but this relates to the flasher relay not CANBUS per se. It's possible to also use external resistors but the availability of aforementioned makes this solution redundant in most cases now.
