https://www.smh.com.au/property/liv...-1-3-million-richer-20221011-p5bos3.htmlLucky couple. By "an archaeological hoard" would that mean if the coins were a bit older they couldn't sell them and would have to donate to a museum making no money? I am also confused by the over 300 years old rule? By my maths coins between 1610 and 1727 are between 412 years and 295 years old, surely there was two or more coins over 300 years old?

There are different rules in Scotland! Yep - the web link states that "There are different rules for Scotland and different rules for Northern Ireland." and provides links to those sites. The find was in Yorkshire, so the UK law applies.

Slight thread drift - is anyone out there a detectorist? Any recommendations for detector kit for use in pastures/woodlands? I currently have a Garrett Ace 250 but I'd like something that can maybe go a bit deeper if such a thing is available.

So, we're not in the UK?

So, we're not in the UK? Take that up with the GOV.UK website. I was just providing information to someone who asked for it. There is a 'report a problem' tab at the bottom of the GOV.UK webpage.
