If you like REAL behind the scenes race vids, you might like this one..? I did. smile
Best watch from a comfortable seat it is over an hour long, starts off with historic poor quality vid but improves with time..
I hope you enjoy.

Many thanks for that George - anything featuring the GT40 has my attention, I shall settle down to watch this later on.

Another from LeMans 24 hrs. Not Porsche this time.. (-:

Approx 1hr 23 min in length which again gives real insight to the strategies, personalities, stresses and strains of racing around Le Sarthe for 24 hrs..

I have been to LM twice, once for the 24 hrs in 2002 when we drove down from central Scotland in our Morgan +8, to see the DeWalt liveried Aero 8 take part, it was an experience to be savoured for sure. We had booked through a Porsche friend who arranges LM accommodation/experience trips, and stayed a farm followed by château accommodation, both of which were interesting in their own way..(-: During the evening of the race we had our meal at a restaurant some way down the length of the Mulsanne straight.... On approaching the restaurant from the rear standing between two buildings we could hear cars approach then there was what can only be described as an explosion of sound which battered off the walls of both buildings before hitting our ears, all in all not the quietest meal I ever enjoyed but certainly something to remember.. (-:

Our visit to the Classic some years later was a more relaxed affair driving down in comfort of the 4x4 barge with auto transmission and more importantly air con for the LM Classic in what was a very hot Summer. The Classic was more favoured as an event by me. We felt fortunate to have had the benefits of pit access for the 24 hrs, and behind the pits access for the Classic, just to be there and take in the whole aura surrounding the 24 hrs and get amongst all the Classic teams and more importantly see hear and smell the cars as they cooled down dripped oil, water and showed signs of their usage, some sporting patina of all types from evidence of scrutineering going back decades, to rather obvious wear and tear, all of which added so much feeling of connecting with history, I had only ever seen pictures of over many years reading the classic press, KM was indeed an experience to be savoured and never forgotten.

On the other hand the vids provide another level of insight to the excitement that surrounds all that makes LM the very special motor sport event that it is..

As for the more modern race cars, I kinda prefer the GT Class series of race vids, because I can more relate to the cars as they are similar to those one can see on the road from time to time and may even have the opportunity to own or drive something similar. Ultimately though there is no taking it away from the fastest of the fast and the outright winners..?

Hope you enjoy this vid too OZ , along with any others who care to beam it up and may not have seen it before.

Very much appreciating these videos in NZ too George as I have always been a fan of Lemans since watching the film at the local theatre when fairly young

So very pleased that you are finding some interest in the vid links guys.

Waikiore, I well remember going to the picture house to watch Le Mans when it first came out, it was really quite special back then. I`m guessing you have seen the latest movie re the return of Ford to LM..? Link to a trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4aY0dW3hpRc

While the LM 24 hrs was ever THE high spot for me in car racing, as was the IOM for bike racing, I tripped over a set of GT series vids as the result of my Porsche interests and in that regard, I came across the series of vids where the actor Michael Fassbender got together with Porsche to provide him with extensive training in order to realise a life long dream of becoming a racing driver and of course to enter the 24 hrs at LM. To that end Porsche provided a team of top class folk in order that he might achieve that goal... I guess the marketing men played their part in the decision making but ultimately it made for a very interesting and continuing series of vids.

The name of the series is Michael Fassbender the Road to Le Mans. Unfortunately I could not find a link to the first vid in the series and the link below is as far back as I could find which seems to present it`s self as the beginning though I am sure that there was an earlier vid ... DO NOT beam it up if the F word upsets. We are watching an Actor, and when there are cameras around, but there are times when emotions take precedence over any desire to act, even if just a little..(-:

Interestingly it was while watching the Fassbender vids that I came across the Iron Dames team... Unfortunately for Fassbender they seem to be at or above his level, and there was a coming together in one vid where Fassbender seemed to think it was not his fault...Hmm..?

I think the link may take you to the series of vids filmed over three years..

Sincere apologies to the faithful for all the non-Morgan content but at least I travelled to LM in my Morgan and in the hope of seeing a lot of the DeWalt Aero taking part in the 24 hrs... And just to prove I was there I took a few pics and posted some elsewhere in the forum... one of which I hope to post below.

Great video...

I was lucky enough to be invited to Le Mans twice by Ford to drive my GT at the Classic. Quite fun to be on the Mulsanne at race speeds. smile

Agree. Enjoyed watching that. Despite all of the money, work and brains involved, still seems a bit of a miracle that they pulled it off though.

Thanks George, yes I came across the Fassbender series a little while back too and tend to agree when he ploughed into the girls car with no rights. Managed to drive my Plus 8 down for LMC in 18 and very much enjoyed the circuit drive early one morning and the company of the Vinmog and French Morgan contingent , met Shooter and a number of others from this site on the trip too. Re the LeMans 66 film -I found it a bit frustrating -though that is Hollywood I guess. If I was living in the UK I would move heaven and earth to get aboard an entry at LeMans classic it really is a most incredible event -watching TOK under her current experienced and skillful driver/ owner blowing past larger and more powerful cars was a real treat.
Cheers Murray
