This is what a Tesla looks like after it has been washed with 45 thousand litres of water Fox NewsApparently this one caught fire after the car ran over some object on the road. The driver managed to pull to the side of the road and he and his family managed to get out before they suffered any serious consequences. Apparently there have been a number of cases of flood affected EVs catching fire too.

Me too - there was a program on telly a while back and reignition is a major issue with these things and at the time the Fire Brigade advise was to let it burn itself out.

I watched a video of a damaged Tesla where the battery was damaged. It was left alone and soon the batteries were bubbling. They immersed the wreckage in a big water filled skip. It took a few days for all battery activity to stop. Li-ion batteries can flare up with intense heat if damaged. Look on you tube examples. That sis why fire services have to lethe car burn. Such intense fire. Plus danger of electrocution. What might be an additional danger is exiting a damaged EV and creating a ground connection. It is why F1 drivers are sometimes told to jump off the car.
