Racing two-smokes often caught me off guard when they fired up in the pits at various race tracks in my yoof... There was a great m/cycle series on UK TV some years back dedicated to the m/cycle, below is one of my favoured clips from the series, of yet another rather special two-stroke..

thank you also for this video.
Interesting how different two stroke engines sound!

I was no fan of two stroke engines but in addition to my 4 stroke street bikes I had some two stroke bikes for motocross/ enduro races.

I started training wit a Yamaha DT175MX, than a Maico GS 250 anders endet with the last air cooled KTM GS420 (it was build for an Enduro World racer so it had 495ccm. The KTM was a overpowered 4 gear monster. But I could her drive a little bit like a 4 stroke Bike.

The first bike with sidecar was a MZ TS250. I´ll never forget the typical "räng täng täng täng....."

2005 4/4 1800ccm Duratec and a lot of HONDA CX500.......

Etched in my mind is lying in bed as a young teenager waiting expectantly for a local youth to come to the junction on his much modified Aerial Arrow - yes, Aerial Arrow. (stripped down to basics and two superb expansion boxes). Blipping the throttle as he changed down and rounding the curve and accelerating hard down the road - heaven.

Excuse spelling ... Ariel

It's an Ariel Arrow but not as we know it Captain!!

There was a lot of potential in that pressed-steel oddity ... there's one stripped like this that races in the bike meet at the Loton Park Hillclimb

Mrs Image learnt to ride on an Arrow she loved it ....she used to race a jap 250 to work ... it was faster in a straight line but the Arrow wound it back in on the corners and roundabouts 🙂

As it seems there is some interest in unusual m/cycle engines this one is realy interesting. paer to the same TV series which I think is available on YT somewhere...the first few seconds of the vid are a bit shaky but it soon sorts it`s self out.
