Hello Gents,

Just joined this Forum as I want to buy an Aero 8 S1.
As said in the welcome area I used to own 20 years ago a TVR Chimaera.

I haven't realised so far if you can select in the service and maintenance forum the Modell.
This is why I am asking here.

The good thing about Morgans is that all parts catalogues are easily available
On the net. On the other side there is hardly any info about alternative parts numbers
Or OEM numbers on the net available.

Is there any Parts list existing, as it was available for the TVR Chim, that says Front brakes are EBC pn....
And so on with many parts that are not Morgan but sourced from other manufacturers or supplier's. Of
Course I don't expect it for the whole car but at least for some major service parts
Or parts that are obviously OEM like the headlights VW Beetle.

Especially if you live abroad and there is not many Morgan specialists around
It would make life easier. I know there is a lot of owners who just
Want to enjoy the ride, but I am belonging to those also loving to dismantle their cars
And putting it back together. So if this question has already been asked somewhere else, sorry
I didn't find it so far. If such thing is existing I would love to get a copy.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Kai

Parts manual for Aero S1 can be downloaded here Kai. If your eyesight is good there are some wiring loom schematics as well.

There is a lot of general knowledge on this forum as well but not an alternative parts list I'm aware of per se. I would research parts sources as needed starting on this forum. There is a search function which can be used to find historical posts on your chosen subject. It's a bit hit and miss but you can usually find some useful info if you avoid the rubbish in rubbish out scenario.

Hi Kai,
I've just sold my 4th TVR Chimaera and bought a Series 1 Aero 8 - i think there are quite a few of us who have followed a similar path.
Is there anything in particular you are looking for? Where are you based?
I know Drew has two S1's and is near me in Gloucestershire, a dark grey one with red roof and a silver and blue two tone car (which you may have seen is on ebay).
I also know Krazy Horse in Suffolk were preparing two S1's for sale, i don't know what the current situation is with those.

Hi Richard,

The Morgan Parts list I have already found on Melvyn Rutters page. It is really astonishing that Morgan has given their permission. What I am missing is a DLR who is offering Aero parts. Majority is focused on trads parts. And of course the link to a list from which car the single part is sourced from. This could be a nice living and growing document.

I am just restoring an very rare austrian tractor. One brake cylinder is 120€ a piece, since I discovered where they have sourced the part from I could purchase 2 cylinders for 25€, plus you are avoiding troubles on the availability. I will try to dig deeper on the already written knowledge in this Forum, thanks for your advice.

Hi verysideways,

Since my last TVR purchase one big thing has changed. The Brexit is making the cars from GB almost 30% more expensive as I live in Germany.
This is why I will be looking still for RHD Aeros but most probably i have to focus on cars that are already in EU. Of course this is limiting the offer.
Last year I have missed a Series 1.5 by one week. But I am aware that finding the right car for a reasonable price can take some time. But sometimes chances can
Come quickly. I will keep my eyes open for German, French, Dutch or Nordic Aeros, sometimes also mentioned in this Forum.

Regards,
Kai

Kai, SimonH of SiFab fame carried a few parts on the shelf and could fabricate and knew sources for many others including suspension joints. Unfortunately it appears he's stopped trading. If you click on his TM name above it will list his posts often referring to Aero's so maybe info to be gleaned. I can vouch for the quality of his excellent all aluminium replacement radiators.

BTW your tractor is not one of these is it?

A little tip, but you chaps will probably know this tool. Because sometimes google finds results better than the internal search engine of a website.
You type:
site:xxxxx.com search term
e.g.
site:talkmorgan.com aero headlights
Often more results come up than searching via talkmorgan itself.

I'm sure I've seen a sort of list on here or perhaps we should start one?
From memory electric window motors are Ford Fiesta as are the wing mirrors, front indicators are from USA Chrysler 300 c1999, some front suspension components are VW LT van, headlights from VW Beetle, later model, column switchgear BMW etc.etc.

The parts list referenced above is a great resource however it should be pointed out that the parts situation for S1 Aeros is not the greatest with lots of things being unobtainable and others although readily available such as the window motors have been “Morganised” and are not a straight replacement as I’ve found out to my cost on several occasions!

Even larger items such as the wheels are no longer available and small items such as wheel decals cannot be sourced which is one of the reasons I keep mulling over selling my S1 to get better parts support fro a more mainstream supplier.

Trouble is the Aero is so special it’s hard to part with😩

I had wheel decals remade.

I’m stacking up with a few parts.

I have a spare set of wheels. 2 original drops glasses, ally dash, door locks etc.

But parts are a concern and even the headlamps are not now available

Super 3 soon
