Looking at that wonderful silver XK does indeed take me back in time. Jaguar certainly were an example of quite the best of British.. Those lovely lines, the wonderful dashboard, leather interior, lift the bonnet and the engine bay was nothing short of a work of art....
Picked up our Tesla yesterday..how things have changed... Sure as a personal transportation device for our purposes it promises to make life simpler, fingers crossed. As a potential Classic in time...!!! Though never say never...

The 150 was a "modernised" version of the original concept, some don't think it's as attractive as the earlier cars, but it was again a bit more practical and it looks more than ok to me

If any company if that era had grasped the corrosion nettle, they would be stand out classics today.
A dealer friend had two E Types in 1978. Both F platers, so coming up for ten years old, and they were both sheds. The bodywork, especially sills, and boot floor, were lace.
The XKs were great Jaguars, and I too prefer the 150 for looks, but they developed as most cars do. A bit bigger, a bit heavier, a bit less sporting, because that's what the buyer wanted.

Yes, I especially admire the original form. Even though I'm a die-hard roadster driver, the XK 120 Coupé is one of the few cars that is even more beautiful in the closed version than in the open version. The lines can compete with the most beautiful Bugatti T57 coupes. (Which were much more expensive).

Not driven, but I sat in a new M3W yesterday. I can’t say that it impressed me from either the looks, or the driving position. I have driven the old M3W and found it a great experience. For me, that model was brilliant, albeit slightly flawed. My impression of the new one is that it looks as though it was designed by a committee.
