I've had 11 Morgans.......don't ask, it's a serious affliction.
I'm not claiming any of the above qualifies me in any way to comment on the 2 manufacturers....But.....

As much as I like Porsche I can't see me ever having another, they've become a bit boring, predictable and soulless. They have become very much a demonstration of wealth, achievement and image nowadays. Very fast, which in the modern world is absolutely pointless, Boxsters do handle well, but they're still Porsches. Try getting out at a junction in a Porsche......no one lets you out....!!!!

Morgan:- character, emotion, quirkiness and style. Poorly built, low tech pseudo vintage motoring.
I think Peter, you had a trad before the Aero. Another trad car is the way forward (backward)...

I think that the mistake often made by folk who can afford it, is thinking that because their Morgan cost a lot of money it will be high quality or well made and comparable products from 'real' car builders.
Morgan themselves have, and have had, aspirations of becoming a big time car builder, but aspiration and ambition is tricky if it isn't backed by huge development budgets.

I like the CX cars but they're too much tech and too much money. I think that is probably true of the Aero chassis cars as well.

I agree 100% that Morgan produces a very particular sort of car that cannot be compared with any modern car. In my view the CX cars are drifting away from being "Morgans" and towards mainstream cars, which is unfortunate as MMC has struggled to support the technology that has driven that drift. The Aero cars should have been seen as a warning....

Yes, I had a Roadster, it was a true Morgan: we moved to an Aero because the Roadster was cramped and uncomfortable and neither of us are in a biomechanical state of tune to be compatible with a trad. The Aero chassis Plus 8 ended up going for many of the same reasons and at some point in the future the Boxster may go the same way.
What then?
I really have no idea.

I think that you've already answered your own question......... A well sorted +4......
And some Pilates lessons to sort out your biomechanical limitations........😁🤯

A good +4 (duratec), SSL front and rear or Rutherford suspension, remap, a good hood and the seats tailored to your exact shape by Shaun the trimmer at Allon White. As fast, comfortable and civilised as it's probably possible to make a trad Morgan.

An experienced Pilates instructor to help you to maximise you biomechanical potential, flexibility and strength. Don't ever give up on your own physical and structural wellbeing, aging is inevitable but becoming immobile and inflexible is a choice......... Disclaimer.......... My wife has been a pilates teacher for 25 years......🤷🏻‍♂️
You'd be amazed at what is possible..!!!

Probably the same as I have been looking at over the last year or two - something taller that is easier to enter/exit... smile

Bentley Conti GTC. Just saying.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I bought a new GTC when they first came out - fabulous thing. I took it to the south of France too, a lovely trip.

I was a bit of an Aston fan at the time and always thought the Bentley to be the car Aston could only dream of making.

Very interesting discussions regarding ‘hand built’ cars. Please excuse me for now producing some thread drift.

I must admit that I am not a long time car enthusiast (steam engines are more in the blood), but got seriously bitten by the M3W bug, back in 2016. I purchased a secondhand, original 2012 M3W that had gone through most of the required rebuilds… I made quite a few modifications and improvements to it (it even won a MTWC cup!).

Unfortunately, my wife had challenges getting into and out of the M3W, so I thought a 4/4 four seater would be better. The M3W was sold to my oldest friend (who has just had it rebuilt following a neighbour back in to the side of it).
The new car was better for access and looked very elegant.

The big downside for me was that it completely filled the garage, so that if I wanted to use the lathe or other machine tools, then the car had to be pushed outside.

This became increasingly annoying and so the car was sold just before the first lockdown in 2020. Cecily never really took to it and it wasn’t half as much fun to drive as the M3W.

Fast forward to 2023 and my friend’s rebuilding of the old M3W piqued my interest again. I had followed the launch of the new Super 3. Clearly the clever modern design technology in the new three wheeler should allow an expedited ( and cheaper? ) construction. Unfortunately it’s hugely wide tracking meant that it couldn’t fit my garage, the looks didn’t quite gel for me and, for the price, there seemed to be quite a few teething troubles showing up on the forum. There was no way I would go back to the old M3W, as few would be as well sorted as my old car.

By chance I then came across the Pembleton Motor Company ‘V Sport’. These are hand made to order in Bayton, Shropshire, by Guy Gregory and his company; he is the son of Phil Gregory, the originator of the type, back in 1999. Now these cars are very much hand built and to a very high standard. Having seen the construction errors in the replacement Morgan-supplied chassis for my old M3W, I was shocked - there is little comparison in finish and fit to the Pembleton. Needless to say I now have a V Sport on order which will be ready by late July. The price is exceptionally competitive and I am looking forward to more three wheeled motoring!

Apologies for the awful thread drift, but the moral is really that Morgan really do need to watch their quality control for the prices charged.

Tim

P.S. I have an outside car cover for the 4/4 four seater looking for a good home…

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a few 'legacy' Morgan dealers stocking them in the future.
