Hi, I am in the process of restoring a 1975 +8 from the ground! Chassis has been repaired for corrosion, sandblasted, metalized and epoxy painted. So far, so good (I think). All four wings are steel and in pretty good shape. All Waxoyl is removed and very little rust has to be fixed - no problem. But I wonder if it will be wise of me to fit some kind of protection against dents from the tires. Or is it only a problem with alloy wings?

Dix, more of a problem with ally wings, personally I would spray some body shutz on the vulnerable areas prior to painting. If you need protectors I believe Black Phey make them, hope this helps!

dix please note Body shutz is no good, its only bitchamen and stays live, Stonechip-stoneguard is more the recommended thing it will form a hard rubber like skin and can be painted over, shutz cannot.
Hope this helps

Sheets of vinyl seems to be the ultimate protection as expert Dave will testify. There are a number of 'vinyl' posts on the site Are you compiling some photos to share of your rebuild? Are you going for concours? Best of luck with your efforts

You can still get the ABS prefabricated guards for pre superform wings, advertised in Miscellany. (Blackphey@hotmail.com) There are other fixes. I use neoprene over fibreglass circuit board as mudflaps just to the rear of each wheel. Steve Wells won the Innovations at Buxton with a complete underwing shield, similar to the ones advertised in Miscellany but for Superforms. You could probably adapt some modern PVC liners for the rear arches

Guys, thank you. From your helpful replies I understand it will be wise to add some protection. I will do so but haven't decided yet how to do it. I do not go for concours. But I'm trying very hard to do the restoration in a way that will leave me with a car in "as new" condition. At least!! Pics will follow

Pics are now added to the Morgan Photo Gallery ( I think!!!) Probably it would have been more appropriate in one of the other photo galleries but that is too complicated for me.
